Broken Arm! I have heard of Sims getting sick and ill--though i had never previously experienced it with any of my Sims--since there exists a fear of Getting Sick in the game. However, just last night i noticed a Sim of mine sitting with her left arm held up at an unnaturally odd angle, kinda like as if it was stuck in an eternal wing-flapping motion, only that it was unmoving. Lounging, drinking coffee, changing clothes etc were all done with one hand and it was really unnerving to see it happen. I thought of it being a bug and tried 'fixing' it by making it do two-handed activities like reading the paper, but it only fixed it for as long as she was reading it. I was lucky not to have saved the game during that period and i'm quite scared that it would happen again since i have no idea what caused it in the first place, maybe a trip over the stairs and a long fall...or a bee sting while watering the plants, i don't know really. Another issue which is just as strange, though fortunately temporary, is the face-making syndrome. It would usually happen while a Sim is Dancing Together with another and it would wear a one-raised-eyebrow-look while dancing which looks just plain weird, and it would stick for quite a while. I'd usually be able to fix it by putting Sleep in its queue--its face would thankfully change back to normal by then. Weird huh? Any reports on these?
The broken arm is caused by an animation bug that leaves a sim stuck holding a (invisible) plate. It is harmless and usually resets itself after a while or for sure after a trip to a community lot.
Invisible plate? LOL and i thought it was far more imaginative than that--i was really hoping that a fall down the stairs or off the balcony would be among the risks within the otherwise 'safe' environment of The Sims. However, there also exists a Fear of Accidents with a toilet icon if i'm not mistaken, as I remember seeing my pregnant sim have it on her list. In fact, there was a time not long after, when she was slumped on the bedroom floor all naked after what i believe to be an accident in the bath. It almost cost her her life, and her husband had to plea with the Grim even! But then, she was hungry while in the bath, so she could have been starving to death due to her and her baby's huge appetite. 'Sigh' The problem is that i could never be able to keep my eyes on each of my four (now five since the baby's born already) sims in the manor, so i can't really say for sure what exactly caused my Sims' casualties. I know, i know, i'm a bad Daddy. p/s: that sure is a WEIRD way to hold a plate. I think I'll stick to the arm-breaking fall theory...makes the game feel all more real, don't ya think?
I think a Fear of Accidents means having a fear of peeing herself if her bladder want is not fulfilled That is weird...
Oh... So it's just a fear of peeing in the pants huh? *disappointed face* Is there anything in this game that's more realistic than technical?! Awww...
Mine get the 'broken arm' on occasion if I interrupt them when they've been playing chess. Watch them playing chess and you'll notice how the arm is held up--sometimes it gets stuck there. But it always seems to cure itself eventually.
I've seen it most often as the result of playing chess for long periods. (Maybe playing chess causes a problem like too much non-ergonomic computer use causes carpal tunnel.
