Buy and Build Modes Disabled! It happened after the wedding party and now my family's doomed to an eternal Live mode! I can't even move objects around let alone buy new things! Help! How did this happen? Is it a classified glitch with (hopefully) a fix? >.<
An no, there's no form of emergency going on, if that's what you were thinking! Only that i recall inviting the Social Worker over for the Wedding..But everyone left the house already, noone's staying behind...only the residents.
I did, and nothing worked. I even reinstalled the game, and yet the one lot was still stuck with the grey buttons...Sigh.
Weird. I've heard of this happening, but it's always turned out to be that the person was using a noCD hack so that they could play the game without the CD (usually illegally.) However, someone (I believe on this board) had this happen after a fire. You might want to do a forum search to see what you can find about that, since it's the only time I have heard of the b/b disabled other than from using a piracy aid.
Triple Trouble apparently i strongly suspect that it was the social worker who was the main culprit behind my predicament. I goodheartedly invited her to my sim's wedding party (BIG MISTAKE) and then it happened after i sent everyone home. I also read somewhere that the social worker lady carries some buy/build-mode-disability curse in the air around her like a malevolent witch-sim. Fine. I tried re-installing but to no avail, and in the end, i had to resort to moving the family outta the house, making a thorough inspection of the lot (it seems the lot is now corrupted since in building mode prior to the move-in,the buttons are all greyed up), and finally, REPLICATING the house! Walls, decoration, gardens and all! What a painstaking process! GRRR Then i deleted the corrupt house and made them live in the new clone building. All was well until....the front doors get ignored by neighbours the moment i decide to place side doors...Ah well, you can't have everything in life can you? Even that was nothing compared to the impending doom that was gonna be--ATTACK OF THE CLONE GARDENERS! It went like this, i called up the repairman to fix this shower of mine..then he told us he could only come in the morning--too long a wait. Then i made my sim repair it himself and it was okay then. The next morning, the repairman came...along with the daily gardener and that was when pandemonium broke loose. The gardener's truck was parked behind the repairman's and it kept honking, disappearing and getting replaced with a new one every 3 seconds, with each came a new gardener of a different name and gender. There were at least 85 gardeners running around the house, watching tv, playing chess with each other, telling jokes to residents, lounging, dancing, eating the food and not ONE of them bothered about the weeds around the house. Even worse, there's no Ask to Leave>Everyone or Fire/Dismiss>Everyone option for them imbeciles. It really brought down my memroy speed and even scrolling around was torturous. Luckily i didn't Save the game yet then.
