Camera Hack? i don't know if I'm the only one looking for this, but is there a completely FREE camera, I get a little tired of the "dollhouse look", but a TS2 Student Union looks its best when I set to the highest floor with roofs, and I can see the interior with the ceilings, and the camera angles I want. Basically I was wondering if theres a way to get a free roaming 360 degrees camera (like tab, but I can change elevation, etc. more easily)
Yup, I seem to remember there is one. It's a line or two of settings that goes into the My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Config\UserStartUp.cheats files ... uh mebbe not ... just search MTS2 and came up with this:- http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=30401&highlight=camera+hack same principle tho. I'm gonna try it myself and see if it conflicts with anything else of a fishy nature. Shouldn't do. Pescado will no doubt confirm. Er, you mentioned ceilings ...? I don't have any of those in my game. Roofs are opaque when looked up at, but for the life of me I don't understand why floor tiles are invisible from below. It makes no sense to me. Even if the underside of a floor tile was a battleship grey it would still be a massive improvement on either the floating bedstead and toilet pan ... or the even more mysterious roofless ground-floor rooms. It is one reason why the majority of my sims' homes are bungalows. The other reason is that even Pescado hasn't solved the petulant puling and dumping of queued orders that sims affect when a stair case, which forms forms part of their route between tasks, is momentarily occupied by another entity. :(
Just a thought, if you're filming (not really for a regular Sim house I set up a level--walls--above the level where I'm filming. No furniture on that level 'cause the camera sees it floating overhead. Then I cover the upper level walls with some bland ceiling colored stuff. White wallpaper or grey poured concrete. Make sure that you've got both levels raised when you switch to free camera mode which is the only mode that allows you get in close on the lower floor. The regular camera mode will just jump you up to the upper level when you get close to the house--BIG pain because I sometimes forget to switch to free camera mode.
LOL Lynet ... Filming sims is pretty much traditional Hollywood, I guess. You need special sets rather than to attempt location work.
For sure. The houses I use for any filming are no fun to live in. I've also duplicated sets in Community Lot mode that I had already built in Residential Lot mode because of actor and actress control issues. Brother! The stress of directing these free-willed little guys has driven me into the arms of my Legacy family for awhile--peace and quiet and everyday soap opera routine while I take a breather from filming. Not for too much longer, though. I hate unfinished projects cluttering up the place.
