Can't find Sim in my Downloads folder

I downloaded a couple of sims off MTS2, but I can't find them in my Downloads folder. I've checked in Saved Sims as well but they aren't there either. I used Q-Xpress when I downloaded them and that (as far as I know) downloads the stuff directly to the Downloads folder. Does anyone have any ideas where they've got to?

    Thanks for your replies.

I downloaded two sims recently from TheSims2.ea.com and they were packages that I needed to install with the Sims2Pack Clean Installer. They weren't zip or rar files, which I install with Q-express.

They worked fine, installing them that way. They were available in CAS, even their heads, LOL, in the 'head chooser.'

Maybe you should go get the files again and try installing with the Clean Installer.

Oh, and sometimes I've had to extract what looks like a zip or rar file right on the desktop, just to see what's in it. I occasionally find a package file buried inside of a collection of other stuff, like readme files.

Have you tried looking in your internet temp folders, or doing a search if you know the file name?

What, exactly, does Sims2Pack Clean Installer do? I had a look at their site but I still don't understand what it does. :sigh:

    EDIT:
How do you install package files? I've downloaded lots of stuff that come in .zips or .rars and I've then extracted them and I get all these package files. When I click on them a message comes up saying that I need to click on a package file to install - but I am.
I read somewhere that you have to copy them into your Downloads folder. Is this the correct way of installing package files? Will they turn up in my game?

Sure I could check it out myself, but I'd rather know the right way of doing things before I get clumsy old me infront near my downloads folder. Heh.

    Hi muffin:)
I just double click on them and they install.
I never use the download folder. If its zipped, I just explore and double click from there. Or you could extract them first. I have a folder that I call Sims2 Packages on my E: drive.

    HTH regards moon.

Just in case anyone is still puzzled... I'm sure Muffin has got it figured out by now but here's one of the answers to the FAQ.

I'm sure I just confused the issue rather than helping, before now. Just follow Mirelly's instructions in the link. :) Part way through the instructions she mentions the package files from the Sims 2 Exchange.

My packages have looked like the attached. I suppose it's because of the Clean Pack Installer.

(Cool desktop picture, isn't it. :))

Thanks guys. The way I managed to install my packages was just to drop them in the downloads folder. It worked and the things show up in my game. Whoopie! :D
