Knowing all your system information (ie the specs) would help. Otherwise, it's difficult to tell what's going on.

One thing I do remember from using the Maxis made content manager is that it could take a *very* long time to load, especially if you have a lot of custom content.

    These are my cpu specs:

    cpu : AMD Sempron(tm) 2500+
Cpu Speed : 1.75 GHz Performance Rated at 2.50
    Ram : 511.5 MB
Operating system : Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 (Build 2600)
Video Card : RADEON 9600 SERIES (ATI RADEON 9600 Series AGP (0x4150))

I hope this will help and tell me which program you use.

    Thanks

I couldn't get TS2 content manager to work either. I use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer

It isn't just for installing stuff it's got some pretty cool content management features as well.

Doesn't the content manager require a separate Windows tool download? That's why I don't have it, because with my dialup I can't even download it. It takes too long. My system keeps timing out on me.

Ooh new avatar, SB. Romantic ... I'll the miss the thoughtful looking PDL character though. No idea who she was, I have a terrible memory for putting names to faces.

The content manager and the MTS2 clean installer are both stand alone programs as far as I know. Neither requires the Microsoft .NET framework to work. I don't know why the Maxis one won't work for me, it did when I first installed it ... then one day I wanted to check something and it was busted so I used S2PCI instead.

The Maxis tool doesn't require anything but the game. It's phever's Simspack Clean Installer which requires the Microsoft .net framework to be installed prior to installing the Clean Installer.

I suspect, based on the level of RAM and processing speed that the Content Manager is just timing itself out before it completes the task. You might do better with the Clean Installer, as others have suggested.

Shoot, I'm a SimMaster and I still prefer working with the Clean Installer than the Content Manager. The CM seems to take longer to load than either BodyShop or Homecrafter, and it's also remarkably picky to deal with. They made it as there were some folks who only go to the official Sims2 site and can't go to MTS2 to download (for any number of reasons.) And they wanted it to be something that didn't require the .net framework. Unfortunately, I believe it's the use of the .net framework that allows the Clean Installer to be faster and more stable. That's just my opinion, however.
