Computer ok all you computer gunieuses out there, i need a tid bit of help...see...i think my registry is prety much screwed, but i've managed to fix it, yet some programs still have a hard time running, and others just don't want to run at all, some run fine and yeah, i'm just running out of ideas, and prety soon, the only option i know of that i can try is reformating so...help please!
you could run a registry checker..... In Windows 98 > Start > Program > Accessories > Tools > System Information Select Tools from the Menu, and select Registry Checker.
thanks Josh...i'll try it, dunno if it'll work though...i have Norton System Works...which has registry thinger in it too...
Agh, I hate it when the registry gets messed up.... I hope you can get things working again, good luck with getting windows explorer to work again, I use that all the time, I think I would go nuts without it!!
I'm running Windows XP Professional... still getting used to what the settings are, it could be default and I just don't know it yet... we recently realized there is an automatic firewall I didn't know was there, it was giving me TONS of trouble when I was trying to use mIRC to chat!!
i have Windows XP Home and am about the only one in the family that knows how to use it, my bro, who is the computer genius in the family will describe somethin that would work for 2000 and earlier and then i have to figure out how to do it on here.... one thing i find annoying is some programs wont work one here, they wont even install unless it was installed when i (or rather my bro) installed XP..
I tried Trillian and I didn't like it because I couldn't figure out how to set it up to have myself logged on "invisible" in some message programs and not in others.... I'm hiding from my parents half the time I'm online!! haha!
btw, my dad reloaded windows...but didn't reformat...still slow and laggy and stuff still begs to not work so, yeah...looking grim over here, may mean i'll have to go away till i get it fixed worse comes to worse...
I didn't have problems using Trillian. Usually I customize the startup sequence so that it loads me immediately into that mode
