How Do I Construction doesn't work

Construction doesn't work

The very first time I tried it, I could build walls and all that sort. Now, whenever I click on the wall icon, room builder, or any of the building options...nothing happens. My cursor doesn't change but I can still see the grid on the ground. I have money on my character and everything, I don't understand why it doesn't work.

I even went into the tutorial mode, and it doesn't work there either. Can anyone help?

JP, I'm not a technical person and can't directly help you. Eventually, others will finish their dinner and come on board. In the meantime, if you're still around, try the search function in the heading. Try several key words and see if there are threads or posts covering the same problem. I'm sure I've seen this question asked before.

Typically the cause of build-mode failure is caused by running the game without the disc in the drive (most often because of piracy but not limited to that.)

Please confirm that you legally own the game on a shiny disc and that you start the game with the disc in the drive.

Also check to see if you have anything like disc image software (click the link if you don't know what the term means) ... use your add/remove programs options (Start >> Control Panel >> add/remove programs) to review what is installed on your PC.

If you do own the game
You are running the game from the disc
And you haven't got any disc image software installed ...

Please post again and say so (also read the FAQ's - link in my signature) and post your system specifications to help us work out what's going wrong.

What puzzles me is the chauvinism of the youth. I'm old enough to be his grandmother ... if I were that poor woman, I'd take a bar of soap to his dirty fingers for typing such uncouth anglo-saxon verbiage.

 

I just have one more comment, and this is aimed at quite a few newbies on this site who in my opinion have been rude and out of line lately: WE DON'T HAVE TO HELP YOU!

We aren't paid. We do this for fun, but helping you isn't always fun. That part we do out of the goodness of our hearts and if it doesn't work, we're sorry but we tried our best.

Swearing at us, saying "this doesn't work, people," or other such rudeness just makes me not want to help you at all.

As for this thread, the site has rules. EVERYONE gets asked that question when a weird disk issue comes up, Mr. Rudie Pants. You aren't special. I think I got asked it when I joined because I couldn't get the official site to recognize my legal copy of the game. I certainly didn't swear at anyone.

If I caught my son posting such filth and garbage as you, I would first make him post an apology, and secondly take away his computer and video game privileges for a couple of weeks. I try so hard to figure things out, I come here and am accused of stealing stuff that I didn't steal. I have deleted the Sims 2 because it is garbage and I suggest you all to do the same. If you want to be my friend, a friend that hates Sims 2 just like me, PM me and we can talk about other cooler things...like Sims 1 because it's build mode actually ****ing works. **** yall if you doubt me, I'll say it again and much more proudly.

The other users have tried helping you and simply stated that the most common reason for the game not working is due to no disc.
They only asked for proof that you own a legitimate copy and you have jumped down their throats and continued to swear and curse for no reason.

If you do not calm down I can see you getting the boot perminately - which could be unfortunate - so please for the sake of yourself be civil to the other mods and chatters.
