Crowd control Just thought someone would be amused. I'm putting together Chapter 4 of my movie and used a boolprop cheat to invite the whole neighborhood to a house party. Yikes, it was chaos. Since I read that it was a very risky cheat I backed up my files and moved some families (those with babies and toddlers) into the homeless bin. Got some good bits on film but may have to hold another party to finish up. I'm attaching three outtakes. Thought bubbles everywhere, my actress scratching her armpit, and a guy with his hand coming through the middle of his chest . I guess this cheat is tough on a computer.
Neighborhood party how-to I've read that this is a risky cheat so back up your files. In the neighborhood screen hit ctrl-shift-c to get the cheat window. Type: boolprop TestingCheatsEnabled True and hit enter. Some say upper/lower case matters, some say it doesn't. It may depend entirely on what mood your computer happens to be in because mine ignored the cheat sometimes but not other times and I don't know why. (Quick test is to see if after entering chosen household a shift-click on the mail box gives you cheat options. However, don't pick an option yet until you've telephoned for the houseparty.) Now enter the household where you want to party and get ready for it--have lots of food and bathrooms available for your guests, not to mention TVs and stereos and whatever else you think would entertain them. By the way, my guests all tried to use two upstairs bathrooms with the expensive toilets and ignored the handy green public toilet stalls I'd bought just for the party. You might want to make all toilets the same type. When all is ready have someone telephone Houseparty and invite at least one guest, even if they're not a friend. Then go immediately out to the mailbox and shift-click on the mailbox to get a variety of cheat options. Choose the one that invites the whole neighborhood to your party (or everyone--I don't remember the exact words.) In a minute or two, the entire neighborhood shows up at your house, including any NPCs you might have talked to. Warning (seriously I read that babies and toddlers get left behind and/or lost at this party so I moved any families with babies or toddlers out of their house and into the family bin just to be safe. I moved a couple of other families in order to keep the crowd smaller (it was still very large.) There were animation problems--like arms intermingling or going through bodies (see picture in first posting.) I did not save the game after this party, my only intent being to film it, so I can't say what would happen if you saved the game. I guess some people do. The party turned out "Not Bad" even though I neglected my guests in order to film a couple of them. There were so many people they pretty much entertained themselves. When back in the neighborhood screen type boolprop TestingCheatsEnabled False to get out of this cheat set up. I scanned TS2 BBS and a couple of other sites for discussion of this cheat. I came away with the impression that computers can crash on this neighborhood party because of the demands made by so many sims all at once in one place. My computer and the Sims2 game seem to have survived it OK but my computer is only a few months old (younger than the game.) I recommend testing the neighborhood party on a very small neighborhood if you're not sure about your computer.
