Did she return from a community lot or didn't she?

I had something strange happen last night. I have a single mother, not my choice husband kicked the bucket, who's beginning to act funny. Last night she talked to the nanny for a little bit after she got off work. All of the sudden a new nanny walks in and starts working. She finished talking with the old nanny and dismissed her then, after 3 tries, dismissed the new nanny. Each time I would tell her to dismiss the nanny it would drop out of the queue until that third time. After that the new nanny is the one that comes over to take care of her son. A couple sim days later she goes to the community lot for some fun but when she returns home her icon never returns but she's sitting on the couch. I left it like this for several sim hours, she never gets off the couch and it shows only the son is in the family. In the mean time the son changes from a toddler to a child. I went into buy mode to get him a bed, desk, etc. get back into live mode and she is still on the couch and the boy is still the only family member.

This morning I reload that house and everything is back to normal, she dismisses the nanny and everything seems glitch free.

I was afraid I would have to move them out of that house and end up loosing the only picture of the boys father and a dozen roses that the father gave the mother.

That sounds awfully strange. So many people have had "nanny" related problems. Maybe this was one of them. If you do feel you should move and you have the NL expansion installed, just put the roses and the pictures in your sim's inventory and she can take them with her to the new home.

Well I hate to do that unless I'm about to move them because then you can't have them in the house. But then I would hate to blow this off thinking it would be fine and have something happen and loose it all. Can children put stuff in their inventory? What age do they have to be before they get an inventory? I haven't noticed, actually I just thought about maybe putting those things in the kids inventory if something happens to the mom again.

I never tried putting anything in the children's inventory. I might have to try it now just to see if you can. I forgot about the fact that the Mom's icon wasn't available. I guess you wouldn't even be able to open her inventory if you couldn't select her. Hopefully, it just had something to do with more than one nanny on the lot at the same time and it won't happen again.

Ruthie, did you download the patch? Do you have NL and Uni? If you don't have NL you won't have an inventory. It doesn't sound like you do, from what you said.

I had that exact problem, except it resulted in my sim parents losing their kids (long story). The patch for Uni/NL supposedly fixes that.

Hopefully the bug has been conquered on the lot in question.

Yes I have both NL and Uni but unfortunately, because of a filter here at work, I'm unable to access the Sims official site. Therefore I'm unable to get the patch. I've been meaning to go to the library to see if I can download it from there but haven't found the time.

Yes you definitely need to get the patch. Curse those victorian employers and their unreasonable filters :p

And, forgot to mention, since you do have NL: the inventory shows up at the teenage stage. Handy for taking items from home to college with you.

The youngest Nova kid, for example, is getting the car her parents drove in college. She'll be sharing a house with her sibs, so they'll all get to use it.

Now that mom has a shiny red racecar, she doesn't drive the beater anymore.

    Go figure.

I have a child and I was able to put items in his inventory.

Hmmm ... I didn't think that was possible. I'll have to recheck my game tonight.
