Disappearing Tombstone My favorite, Wynter Sparrow passed away at the ripe age of 80. His wife, Dagmar (onetime postal delivery person and younger than he was,) lived a little while longer, until 78. Both died in the platinum. Wynter is a compulsive scrubber even as a ghost . But it's his wife I'm wondering about. Late at night I was busy with the new baby in the house (fourth generation--Sheila Mae Sparrow) and happened to notice a scuffle in the cemetery at the back of the property. I don't know who it was. The ghosts of the matriarch Andrea and her son Wynter's wife Dagmar (a Romancer whom none of the women in the family liked very much) had been wondering around the yard. When I went back to the cemetary to look, Dagmar's tombstone was gone! Both ghosts were gone too, although Andrea's platinum tombstone is still in place. A little later on, the ghost of the patriarch Duke was in the yard waving his arms and having frantic thoughts of a bed. Do ghosts fight with each other? Does anyone steal tombstones? The picture is of Wynter, scrubbing away.
So, did the toilet actually get clean when he was done? I've never encountered a useful ghost before.
Vince Walter the school headmaster was eaten by Bossie the cowplant. A few nights after that, I noticed him teasing the cowplant with a ham. It was pretty funny. Wish I had a screenshot.
You mean, his ghost was? Cool! Can you feed someone to the cow plant or does it have to happen spontaneously? I used the skills vac on the annoying uni cow last night. He ran from my Sim in terror. Quite funny. But I couldn't get the cow plant to eat him afterwards. So disappointing.
Yes, it was his ghost. He just kept teasing it with that ham, all night long. Some sims will go after the cowplan on their own. If you don't feed it, the cowplant puts out a "bait" of cake, and a sim will run over and try to get the cake. With that house, I always try to feed Bossie before I have a party or invite someone over. I don't know what controls a sim's vunerability to becoming cow-food: It seems to be a combination of low logic skills and low hunger points. I'm sure someone will come along and correct me. When a sim dies on my "cowplant" lot, and they live on another lot, something odd happens. When I play their home lot, I get a message that says, "So-and-so died on another lot, and so his spirit will now go there." One of the people Bossie ate was a teenager in the Hicks family. He had come home from school with one of the Jerry Twins, and before I had a chance to send a twin to feed Bossie, the Hicks boy was eaten!! The next time I played the Hicks household, his ghost came home from school, carrying his homework, just like always. Then he put down his homework, I got the message, and his ghost went out the door, his family weeping behind him! I have seen the Hicks boy's ghost countless times on the lot with the cowplant. He stomps around and cries and complains, the "family aspiration" over his head. It makes me sad, because I think he's saying, "I was going to have a family! How could you let me be cowfood?!" Then another boy, Ian Prince, also had the same fate. Now, strangely, none of this every happened to Ian's spirit. Ian was eaten, his tombstone sits across from the Hicks boy. But the next time I played his home lot, Ian's family never missed him. I never got the message, Ian never came home from school, and his spirit never went to the other lot, either, because I have never seen his ghost. His family does not have the "Ian's Dead" memory, but Ian is greyed out in the family tree. Odd, very odd.
A similar incident happened to my sim. Donna Johnson was engaged to this guy, Alexander Smith. He lived on another lot and one day, he was taking a refreshing dip in the pool, and mysteriously, the ladder disappeared... (gee, I wonder how that could happen??) Anyways, Alexander's death isn't in Donna's memory. In fact, she can still host a wedding party for their marriage. Later on, she stopped wating for him and found a new guy, Blake Stratton (he was created using the L&D tombstone.) Unfortunately, the happy couple (Donna & Johnson) can't get married:(. So their son, Masimo, is an illegimate child. Whenever Alexander is creeping about in the night, he also has the family aspiration over is head, even though he's a romance sim. In my attempt to go remotely on topic, I've never seen ghosts fight with each other and I've never had any tombstones stolen. But, I don't have a lot of dead sims.
Low logic skills is irrelevant in the standard game. The Darwinism element was only added in a hack, and I don't think we've released that one. Certain classes of sim are excluded from trying, such as residents, but anyone else will eventually randomly attempt it by the random process that determines what stupid thing a sim will try to do instead of what he should be doing.
With regard to the angry ghosts waving their arms and thinking about a bed-- I figured that curiosity out shortly after posting. I had replaced the bed that the first and second generation Sparrows had used throughout their married lives. (Replaced it with a better bed but I guess since they couldn't use it that was irrelevant.) With regard to the scrubbing ghost, Wynter DOES really clean the toilets (sometimes flushing them first.) I checked. They were clean. One night he did all four of them in the house. Then he washed a dirty dish someone had left on the dining room table. (picture attached.) His wife's tombstone is still missing (as well as her ghost.) I have to be careful with Wynter. I saved and left the game while he was haunting. I came back to the game and his icon was back with all the other family members. When I looked in on his mood bars he was in good spirits , all green. Also, still in platinum achievements. But he was still a ghost with a tombstone in the cemetery. When the sun rose, Wynter and his icon disappeared. It's clearly a glitch. I hate to think that I've got to get rid of the tombstones and the cemetery in order to save the family and their house, but I may have to. Sybil and George (McCarthy) Sparrow are awaiting their second child, number 4 in the fourth generation. Unfortunately, Patrick (No. 1) and Egan (No. 2) are Hogans, not Sparrows, because their grandmother called Marlon Sparrow to the wedding arch instead of the other way around.
That is so cool! Finally, a useful ghost. In the Specter Family all the ghosts just steal from the fridge, make puddles, roll around on the floor and scare other sims to death!! Olive died because of that. I was going to make her retire the next morning...
my legacy sims (vchat and nina) are neatniks as ghosts as well. of course i cheated at points and got everything maxed out in dna, interewsts, etc. . they still scare an odd visitiro, but they clean up pretty well.
Okay Vchat, how do you alter the dna... I've always thought it was way too limiting. How else can you get obsessive/ compulsive personalities? By the way one of my nicest sims who died of old age has never come back as a ghost even tho her TStone is right out in front of the house surrounded with flowers.
ive got Merola's multi painting in every one of my sim's houses for "emergencies". as the name suggests, you can change many aspects of your sims including dna, skills, interests, etc.
oh really?? is that the one that has the idle mode and so forth, that get to platinum level if you want? or is it a different one? back on target: ghosts are different colors depending on how they died, correct? What color are you if you were swarmed by flies?
I want a useful ghost! The closest thing I've ever gotten was a ghost who didn't go out of her way to scare people. She just wanted to see if her bedroom was still there (it was) and she'd do a little cheer. Guess I need to make some more happy ghosts. Lia hasn't appeared yet, but she had a pretty good life, so maybe her ghost will be benign ...
The Sparrows decided to get rid of the family cemetery. The ghost of Andrea Hogan was getting quite pesky, leaping out every night and scaring family members so bad that they... well...needed a bath. More than that, the Scurbbing Ghost, Wynter, had not completely 'passed over.' His picture was still showing up in the screen with the other family members whenever I highlighted the house in the neighborhood view. He also seemed to be pushing one of the babies right out of the picture. And his icon reappeared with other family members whenever he haunted. Sorry, Wynter. I loved ya, but. . .The babies are more important now. The Sparrows toasted their ancestors one last time (first picture,) then had the tombstones removed. I couldn't resist adding a picture of Griffin Sparrow (second one,) fourth generation and heir to the Sparrow fortune. His father is George McCarthy, the one time store clerk and now a business tycoon. Finally, one last shot of Wynter, Griffin's obsessive-compulsive grandfather, who no longer haunts the mansion .
Cute baby! And where did you get the cool tombstones with the pictures on them. Are those "platinum" tombstones? I haven't gotten one of those yet. Do you have to make your lifetime aspiration to get one? Or just be in platinum when you die?
Sorry about that. I don't know why this got moved to troubleshooting and problems, because it's more about gameplay and sharing those little "quirks" that happens in game. I decided to move it back. If anyone has a complaint they can take that up with me in a PM.
