    Diseases?

i'm asking about the diseases sims can get, how they get them, and how you cure them. about food poisoning(the only sickness i know of), do you only get it by eating smelly, fly-y green food or can you get it from eating burnt food, or eating normal food, and then halfway through the meal the food turns smelly and green?

So far, while my sims we're eating something and it turned smelly and green halfway, my sim still doesnt fall sick. Because it only happens once. I think if your sim keeps eating bad food, he/she might eventually get food poisoning. But I doubt you have your sims eat bad food all the time :p

Besides that, your sim can get a flu too. The chances to get the flu is if your sims get close to the roaches much. Its very rare, but so far my sims only get the flu and their houses are always filled with roaches (blame the maid :p )

Sometimes sims catches a cold too. Im not sure how it happens but mine usually strikes the simmies after they get back from work or school.

Another type of sickness I know off is getting a virus. Although I've not experienced it before, but I think you can get it from the career rewards "biotech" thingy. I made my sim fiddle with it once and I saw the option to create virus. Moreover there are posts whereby ppls simmies catch viruses.. so... I guess this is how it happens? :p
Well the only thing you can do is let them rest by having enough sleep and having a green bar for their needs. (Please correct me if Im wrong) :D :D

I've had a Sim get sick from burnt food, but usually it's the green food (even slightly green). But it doesn't always happen. It's something like a 5% chance. (Prima Guide says "spoiled" so I guess burned is considered spoiled too.)

That one is supposedly a 5% chance when someone is near roaches.

That one supposedly is a 1% chance of getting it from work or school.

And untreated it can turn into pneumonia.

Just making "medicine" can get you the "virus". I had a Sim who was using the Biotech machine and got it on two different occasions, but it was when she was pretty tired. Supposedly you can tell if the medicine is bad by the darkness of the vial. (Severity is determined by the logic skill of the creator.)

If you keep the Sim's comfort bar as high as possible while they are healing (by having them rest or sit in *very* comfortable chairs), they will get well within about 12 hours. They need 12 hours of "rest" but they still will need to eat and use the bathroom during that time, so it usually ends up taking longer. One of the hard things is keeping my active Sims in bed. They want to be up and moving.

Also, you can have them drink the Biotech made medicine (which I wish they could stockpile!). But it can take several doses to work. (The second time my Sim got sick from her Biotech machine, it took 4 doses to finally work. She didn't have vacation time left so I had to do something drastic. Fortunately her brother was healthy and in a good mood, so he did the manufacturing.)

i also read that in sims 2 you can also place objects on a diagonal. i saw some pre-made houses with windows on diagonal walls, and when i had to move my sim with moveobjects on, the green square around her was diagonal, but i tried doing it myslef and it didn't work...how?

You must have misunderstood what they said. You can have doors, windows and some of the wallhanging stuff like paintings on diagonal walls, but you can't put any of the objects or Sims in the triangle formed by a diagonal wall.

Since sometimes you can actually put even Sims *into* a wall with "move_objects", it's possible that someone did that, but it's not something that would work in the long run. (Somehow I keep thinking of transporter malfunctions when I read about using "move_object.")

no, i mean when i clicked on my sim with moveobjects on in buy mode, i saw that the green square around her was facing diagonally. i guess it's one of those secret maxis thingies like the plumbob-thingy that is the green diamond above their heads. anyway, about placing objects diagonally, i can't even put windows on a diagonal!! do you have to switch the window around, or does it just turn diagonal when you hold it near a diagonal wall?

by the way, my sim just got saved from death!! so cool!! too bad she wasn't a knowledge sim....a perfect waste....

There is another disease. I read it in the book. If your sims is real sloppy there is a chance that killer flies will swarm your sim and he will die.

To put windows on the diagonal you need to rotate them until their square turns from red to green, then click it. (Although sometimes that is tricky because if it moves a bit as you're clicking, it is out of position and won't work.)

If a Sim's square had her turned on the diagonal, it may have been that when you paused her she was turning. Keep in mind that Sims can now walk diagonally across rooms rather than having to act like the knight piece in chess. It's one of the improvements in pathing that came with TS2.

Kat is absolutely right, but you should also note that if you use "moveobjects on" make sure you turn that cheat off before trying to put windows on a diagonal wall. If you leave that cheat on you will wind up with a window actually intersecting your wall rather than being in the wall.
