    Hi Babygirl,

Paint portrait is hard on the Sim being painted because they have to stand there for a long time, though I think you can stop the session and then have the artist finish it sans model, not sure ...

Anyway, I prefer to paint portraits using Paint Still Life. Paint Still Life lets you frame anything you want within the green box that appears on the screen. Zoom in or out using the controls you normally do until you have what you want. The hardest part is getting the Sim you want to paint to stand still in front of the background you want, but with a little practice it becomes easier. I've had Sims paint their own portraits this way, and one Sim is painting a picture of his parents in their Captain Hero outfits ...

Here are some tips: Pick a day when the Sim you want to paint is feeling fairly happy and does not have to go to work anytime soon. Make sure any babies have been cared for, or the Sim will continually wander away to take care of the kid. Have them dress in the outfit you want to paint them in. Set up the easel in front of the background you want. For example, the superheroes are being painted in front of their gigantic fountain in the hedge maze in their front yard. Now, have the painter Sim go to the easel and scrap painting if needed. Quickly follow that with a "run here" for the Sim you want to paint. You may have to try a couple of times. If you want them to sit, have a nice chair handy and tell them to sit. Then choose Paint Still Life and take your time finding the right angle. Press C to choose the shot, then P to start the game again. The Sim(s) being painted are now free to wander away. The painter Sim will "magically" capture them in the painting regardless.

They turn out pretty well, I've found. Of course, if they move they lose the painting ... so I usually wait for portraits until they've moved into their "rich" house ...

    Hope this helps.
