Favorite Baseball Teams Just something to chat about. What is everyone'sfavorite baseball team? Im a Cleveland Indians fan myself. been having lots of fun lately. theyve been fighting for the playoffs like crazy. last i checked they were 1 1/2 games behind Chicago which they need to be ahead of to get into the playoffs.
Ive learned to be a Seattle Mariners fan over the last 8 or 9 years, and definitely learned to appreciate in a small way the art of baseball. But almost all of my favorite players are gone, retired, traded or relieved and now I'm not sure the hope of a young phenom pitcher is worth buying season tickets again. but maybe a twenty game package to keep my toes wet......
I don't like any large, professional sports. I support local teams that are there to play and don't ritually abuse illegal drugs under the guise of "keeping up with the changing sport". At the local level the sport hasn't changed, but pro money sure has.
I'm with you, Rowan. I feel like I'm cheering for a uniform. I do enjoy a good Saint Paul Saints game, though. Hard to get tickets, they're always sold out! So I guess a lot of people feel the same way. Baseball should be played for the love of the game. I understand that these players only have a few good years in them, but so what? They're doing something they love, as opposed to the rest of us poor slobs who work at jobs we hate our whole lives. It's called planning for your future, people. I have no problem with them making a decent wage, even a really good one, but millions? That's obscene. We should be paying our teachers, firefighters, and police officers more and our sports figures less. And yes, I know the money comes from different places. Just spouting.
I like the Giants, although I'm a bit north of there. I also like the Beaver's baseball and hockey (I used to lift weights with the coach when I went to BSU). I love the local native micro-league baseball and basketball terams. Man, they make the game look fun.
I'm not a huge baseball fan. I like playing but not watching. The games seem endless to me. My hubby is an avid fantasy baseball player. A ballgame is always playing on tv...just so he can check his players out. If we had to pick a team, I suppose it would be the Atlanta Braves. Ted Turner makes sure of that in my region. From my perspective it appears they play 24/7. I do enjoy watching Jeff Francoeur though. (Oh joy...it's now time for fantasy football season. Hubby was happy to buy me Nightlife to keep me occupied! LOL!)
