Game doesn't start, please HELP Ok, so I do have original sims 2 . I have played it a year before, but then i got a non - original Sims ofb. It worked ok, but it was russian and there were some errors ( like there was no sound when the phone rang ), so I uninstalled the whole game. Firstly, the game did not installed again ( i mean the original sims ), because there was a virtual sims ofb cd created and i didn't ejected it, so when the first cd finished to install, the computer never asked for the second. Later I understood that i have to get rid of the virtual Cd. Now, the game installs, but it doesn't start. The first time it looks like it's starting - the logo ,, Sims 2" shows up, the blue line on the screen bottom appears, but then both disappear. if you try to start the game, there is a ,, Send, Don't send " table ( well, the one about problems ). I think it is of an old sims ofb file, which doesn't delete. It takes over 600 Mb, and when i try to delete it, it says : ,, a program is using this file, turn off the program and bla bla bla" ( i hope yuo understand what i am talking about ) . Maybe someone had similar problems ? Please help : )
Hi Giesha. I am going to assume that you have rather sillily downloaded a pirated version of OFB to add to a legally owned version of The Sims 2. First up to get rid of the OFB files you will first need to uninstall the software that enables it. Next you should perform a full manual uninstall routine on your computer to utterly remove all game files (including saved game files, because those will have been altered and/or corrupted by the OFB installation.) How to do that is described in the FAQ section. As for remving the "pirate" software. Start >> Control Panel >> Add/Remove Programs and look for something to remove that you remember needing for the downloady process. There are probably two separate applications to remove: 1./ The P2P client that got you the pirate copy (and which is undoubtedly now using your internet connection to share it around the planet) Look for programs that have 'torrent' in their name and uninstall/remove it from your computer. 2./ The disc mount software which fools Windows into thinking a hard drive file is a CD in a drawer. Alcohol100% is a commonly used utility ... though you will know what you have. Remove both those things and then you can delete the OFB 'iso' files and get back your puter. Hopefully this will teach you that piracy isn't a minor case of naughtiness ... an insignificant misdemeanour. Piracy is always an extremely serious crime and the only ones who profit from it are the mafiosa of certain lawless regions of this confusing planet. Let your motto in life be simple: There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch.
Thank you for such a good reply, but i am looking right now for these programs, and i can't find anything like that ;/ By the way, the file that was unable to delete at last deleted. I copied it in a nother folder, then deleted, and it disappeared at last. But there are a few strange programs : Pd-Bot 2,5 and three files : MSMXL 4.0 SP2 Maybe you know what these are ? And is it safe to delete them ?
If you don't know what a file is for then deleting it should be failry safe. Windows tend to hide stuff that is important. If in doubt copy the name of the file and use Google to see what it does. For example: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=MS...s=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Pd...s=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a We all have to take responsibility for our own actions and choices. If you dabble in the murky world of downloaded "hooky" games and software then you need to be prepared for the consequences. The least inconvenient of which are a screwed-up computer ... the really scary consequences are the ones that end with the Feds battering down your door with a fencepost driver and stun grenades.
hm, i think that the best thing will be to wait for october, when my computer programmer will get new windows for me : )
