Graphics Card query. Ok. I've been thinking about getting a new graphics card. Not that my current one is completely bad, but I've recently installed NL and my graphics are a lot less quality than what they used to be. I am open to recommendations within a reasonable price range ($100-$200AU). My current card is an ATI Radeon 9250. I'd post my system specs but I'm at work and don't know them off the top of my head, so I'll do it when I get home... I'm home now and here they are: Processor: AMD Athlon XP 3000+ MMX, 3D Now, ~2.2Ghz Memory: 1GB ram No clue how big my hard drive is, that seemed like the important stuff. Let me know if it's not. I was thinking maybe an 9600 or 9800, but honestly, I have no clue so any ideas would be hugely appreciated. Thanks a bunch guys
Wow I was surprised to see that prices are plummeting Allie my own feelings are that AGP is no longer the best graphics port on a motherboard ... PCIe (PCI express) is the new kid on the block. A lot of the top of the range cards are starting to appear in PCIe configuration only :( Add to that the fact that Windows Vista is gonna force us all to upgrade and you might prefer to hang on and save those pennies for a complete 64 bit upgrade in around 12 months time. On the other hand Aus$200 worth of 256MB 9600 would give you some improvement in graphic detail
