Greek House Sims Loose their Relationships? I can't remember whether it was here or Various Simmers or MoreAwsomeThanYou, but there was a discussion going on about moving lots from campus to campus. I had created a new SC4 Terrain that was smaller and prettier than the plain, flat default campuses. What I had read said it was okay to move lots with sims from campus to campus as long as they stayed in the same neighborhood. (Both Campuses were in my Simsville Neighborhood.) The community lots of course worked fine. I moved the sims living in dorms out of their dorms on the old campus and moved them to new dorms on the new campus with no problems. Then I moved the Tri-Lams and the Omega-Mus. The kids in both Greek Houses retained their memories, retained their family tree, but lost their relationships. It's like they are starting from scratch, even with their own parents. It took me getting their parents to call them home, and then use JMP's "Macro Socalizer" to get them up to "friendship levels" again. What's sad is that before the move I had a girl, Victoria, invite her boyfriend Bryce to move into the Omega house with her. She graduated and went home to Simsville. He stayed in the Omega house, and moved with it. Their relationship is gone. It's like they've never met!! So, boys and girls, let's take note: Moving a Uni sim into the Sim Bin and then changing campus is okay. Packaging an established lot and moving it to a new campus is not okay. :(
So do they lose their links on the family tree as well? And do the people they were friends or family of show up on the telephone? Are you using Pescado's greek house amnesia fix as well?
No, they don't loose their links on the family tree, and they don't loose their memories of being friend. Several of these Sims are 2nd or 3rd Generation, and so the memories of their mother teaching them how to talk and their father being their best friend are all there. But, their parents icons are gone on the telelphone list and in the relationship list. Yep.
Very weird ... this should be added to the list of things to not do in TS2 ... thanks for the info. You seem to have an amazing "ability" to pick up bugs like this
Yeah, that's true, Gary. I just don't know whyyyy these things keep happening to me?! I should write an article about it: Bad things that screw up your Sims, written from experience.
You clearly have paid no attention to everything I have said for months now. BAD KRISTALROSE! BAD! Haven't we established that you must NEVER, EVER, PACKAGE AN OCCUPIED LOT, and DEFINITELY NEVER, EVER, INSTALL ONE?!? This is basically cardinal sin #1: By doing this, you have successfully created dozens if not hundreds of duplicate sims, and irreversibly corrupted your neighborhood. Congratulations. The CORRECT method is to EVICT all of your sims, THEN move the EMPTY lot via the lotbin. This isn't a new bug. This is just Kristalrose being dumb and ignoring the list of things never to do.
Good thing rolled up newspaper can't make it across the Internet, or your nose would be well and truly swatted, Kristal.
"Hubby? Is That You?" Great!!! Now I have TWO men complaining about my computing skills. I think I will go over here in the corner, put on my dunce hat, and put my lips in my pocket. Thank you. But, I thought it was you, JMP, who said that you can move lots from campus to campus in the same neighborhood. That's not true???
I said you can MOVE from campus to campus within a neighborhood, yes. And you were able to do this just fine. I did NOT say you could LOTBIN AN OCCUPIED LOT. That is strictly verboten. You must never, ever, lotbin or install from the lotbin, any occupied lot under any circumstances. Unless you really know what you're doing.
Oh. Well, then next time try to be more plain about your instructions. Here, just to save you the trouble: Hubby has already chewed off the other end for downloading that virus over the weekend. I'm lucky I'm allowed near the computer. And when I read him your post earlier, he told me he needed to put you on a payroll to educate me on how to not mess up his $2,000 computer!
hehe. that reminds me. ive got to scan the "good" computer asap. i havent been on it all week since my brother's been hogging it (hes got a system. he will be on it all day and sleep IN the computer chair and get back on when he wakes up ). not exactly a $2000 computer mind you, but still one i dont wish to screw up too badly
I'm not sure what part of "NEVER, EVER, EVER" that I've reiterated so many times was too cloudy for you. Maybe your vision is simply fuzzy because your giant and enormous lips were hogging your blood supply, choking off your brain?
Yeah, it's so hard being Angelina Jolie. But I manage. And I have this nice, new boy-toy to play with. (hugs Brad Pitt and tries hard not to feel guilty about poor Jennifer AnnisonD
