Even if you don't have a cake or party, the Sims automatically Grow Up at 6.00pm on the age transition day (birthday)

Except babies. They seem to need the cake for a smooth transition.

Yeah SBW if you don't get the babies a cake the parents will just keep getting them out of the crib to hold them. I don't remember having that problem until I added Uni though.

Yesterday I had one couple jump up out of bed in the middle of the night to go help their daughter with her birthday. I had forgotten about it. They just walking around holding her until I got a birthday cake. As soon as I got out of buy mode the father ran to the cake carrying the baby. They had a brief party, put the toddler down and went back to bed.

A lot of people misuse the term download to mean install. I would think that's probably what she meant.

Not Legally! Although I read that the new add on holiday package will be available to buy and download online, or you can order a CD. That's from the official Sims website.
