How about a new Secret Society? Hey everyone! Thanks for reading! I've been working at making my own University from scratch, and what University would be complete without a secret society?? Not mine, that's for sure, and I bet not yours either! So, if you're looking to make your own university or want to change the secret society you have, I put one up on my Simpage for all to enjoy! It's a castle that comes with all the emenities that you'd look for in a society, nice kitchen area, study and play areas, even a two story bubble machine room for when you take breaks from all that secret stuff. I even added a small store for players (like myself) that have really long load times and don't like to go to too many different places. If you download the society, it's going to show up as a residence. That way you can go in and change whatever you feel like, when you're ready to turn it into a secret society, bring up the cheat code box and type "changeLotZoning secretsociety" (without the quotes) and you've done it! I hope you all like it! Thank you for your time! http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/lot_detail.php?asset_id=118015
Cool! I'm in the process of constructing my own Secret Society. It's a palatial one in the southern Colonial style. Once your Secret Society is placed, you can't see it to change it. (It goes invisible.) However, when one of your Sims goes to visit the Secret Society, you can use the buy and build functions then. (Pretty important since we can't do anything else while it's invisible.) And the change code is not a good idea to use if there are any Sims on site. (Supposedly it can mess things up. I'm not willing to try it out to see, however.)
Nice work. I completed a fabulous dorm today and tried it out. Hmm ... my GeForce FX5600 didn't cope too well with 20 rooms on a 6X6 plot (I'd kept it single storey) How does that secret society of yours play, ijR? Have you got a "high end" system?
Postscript to the above. Beware making large dorms. I quit when the screen started to pixellate and maybe that was just as well. Because when I reloaded and deleted the offending oversized dorm I was still getting pixellation. Yikes! Shut down and allow to cool off. My VGA card has no extra cooling I don't have the space to get away from the case and its noisy enough as it is! Now looking at a VGA heatpipe and a larger, quieter case fan ... :(
Yes, but make sure that the face side of the door is to the common area, not the student's room. I believe that there are more complete directions for how to make a dorm on the forum. You might want to use a forum search to find it. (I vaguely remember writing it all out here in the past couple of days.)
You did, Kat ... here http://forums.worldsims.org/showpost.php?p=74502&postcount=3 Incidentally the 6 island counters isn't necessary from what I have found ... it just means there are enough spaces for the cook to serve all 6 meals. I had a large dorm working well with just 3 ... even then at least one meal was going mouldy rather than get eaten.
Mirelly, I don't have a High End system, and my secret society plays pretty well. Although, I do have to apologize, I had put a little store in it, hoping to cut down on going to community lots just for clothes but the secret society lot doesn't spawn an NPC to run the register. =( I don't think I'd even be able to load up a 20 room dorm! I couldn't even live in the 14 room one with only 1 playable Sim! Lol. Although, I'd have a lot of fun building one for people that CAN play it!
Thanks Mirelly. I thought I'd remembered doing so but thought it may have been on the official BBS. And now I have a bookmark for it too. Thanks. I'll go an edit the island counter stuff. I just found that my guys wanted to be fed all at once and only 3 didn't work well for me. But I can see it is a variable thing.
