I need boy stuff! I have my little sims girls looking like princesses, and the boys are all walking around in the same few outfits because I just can't find a whole lot out there to download. Anyone know of a good site for male toddler/children/teen clothes? Besides Sim Squirts, because I've already cleaned her out?
I assume you've checked the Sims Resource site? They've got some stuff for boys. Also check out: http://www.lyran.net/ts2/ There's a Mutant Teenage Ninja Turtles T-shirt for boys at Racheloni's. Check out all the links at http://compsimgames.about.com/od/thesims2downloads/ if you haven't already.
Oh, that's a tough one. Male clothing that looks nice is difficult to find. They all tend to look like juvenile delinquents. Or they are t-shirts. It's hard to find things that are in that "nice looking, but not too formal or too casual. I wish that the clothing skinners would make that nice sweater with the shirt underneath, but without the shirt tail hanging out. (It turns it from "nice casual" to "geeky sloppy.") Most of the ones I've found have been on TSR, as someone else mentioned. The others I've had to make myself (and they're not good enough to share, as they are simple recolors of the few good outfits out there for boys.) I've picked up a couple of nice things at MTS2 though.
Not to my knowledge. It's certainly an untapped area. Every boy in my game is dressed almost the same. I could use some more YA male clothing, too. I was thrilled when Carrigon posted two new colors of the letter jacket. I'm sure styles are different in other locations but my son would have been tormented if he'd worn many of the maxis styles of clothing. (I'm making a real effort not to use the word "outfit". "Mom...guys don't wear 'outfits'.") Boys past the age of 5 do not wear those "OshKosh" short overalls. I don't know any boys, teens, or men that wear sandals but Maxis put them with half the clothing options. I'd be happy right now if there were various colors of cargo style shorts for male children. You and your daughter did a wonderful job. I think you should put the game aside and make all of our guys some new clothes.
I think it's a programmer thing. Most of my husband's former collegues (and my husband too) seem to wear sandals a lot. (Of course, they tend to be Birkinstocks. My husband wears them in the winter as well, but with socks when it snows.) Now that he has retired, he seems to wear regular shoes more (well, steel toed boots so that he doesn't drop his blacksmithing projects on his toes.) And it may also be a California thing. Needless to say, a lot of the Maxis clothes I'd otherwise put on my boys I don't use because I don't care for the sandals. (Same with the girls, though, and the sandals they wear.)
Here the UK the only footwear worn by teens of either sexes are very expensive designer trainer-shoes (sports shoes). The cheaper/older the shoe the lower the rep and cred and the greater the dissing (... well bullying I guess ... )
I do my best to ignore the shoes. You can replace them in some cases if they bother you enough ... just do some creative cutting and pasting in Body Shop from a pair of shoes you do like.
Here in the summer the guys wear those brown leather sandals, but not with jeans or long pants!! I'd like to see some more of the YA outifit of shorts, a t-shirt, and a button-up made availaibe for men and boys. My hubby wears that sort of outfit all the time, and I even have a few of them for my baby. My teenager won't wear anything that has a collar, or a button, or a stripe. We went back-to-school shopping Sunday and it was a nightmare!! He's wearing red. That's it, just red. Red nylon nike shorts with a red-and-grey shirt. Red and blue "baseball" shirts. Red t-shirts with funny little sayings. He might as well be dressed up in a shirt that says, "Beat me now!" I'm sure the upper-classmen will accomadate him. (Okay, someone pat me on the head and say, "Stop borrowing trouble, Mom. LOL) It's a long story wayyy off topic, but Al has had many, many incidences of bullying in the past, and I have to go to the school and throw a fit at least once a year because my son has been injured.
Unfortunately we can't shield our kids from the cruelties of school. I think the hardships I endured there made me a stronger, more compassionate person, though in retrospect I can see I brought some of it on myself. Kids are either prey or predator in highschool especially. Not very comforting, but most of us survive it OK. All you can do is what you are doing, try to encourage your son to get along with others and stand up for him when things go wrong. Or possibly getting him a therapist so he can talk to an outsider about his need to wear red all the time, though honestly I think he's just trying to express himself, just like any other kid. My sister wore thrift store clothes and got laughed at in highschool until it suddenly became the cool thing to do. Who knows? Maybe monochrome dressing is next.
I know that kids would get killed over expensive sneakers here at one time. My son will wear almost anything but he spends ages picking out his sport shoes. They apparently have to pass some test at school. My daughter would only wear boots. She had a wardrobe of Doc Martins. (Because we all know girls need steel-toed work boots for mall shopping. ) She bought a pair of glow in the dark yellow ones in London. I thought they were hideous but people would stop her everywhere asking where she bought them. Her..."oh, in London" response only added to the cache. I'm sure if you live on the coast sandals are popular. I never see them where I live unless they are Birkinstocks. A particular type will wear them here. I started going to the school and taking note of how the majority dressed. There is safety in blending in to the crowd. It takes a unique child to choose to look different. I strive for "camoflage" when it comes to school clothing. And I personally wish that all schools required uniforms. It takes a huge amount of absurd and dangerous problems out of the environment.
Hey, Kristal! I found some cool clothes for boys here: http://www.spiffysims.com/modules.php?name=Downloads. Look under clothing/boys ...
I just checked Spiffy Sims out and it will definately be in my bookmarks! I love the tea outfits for women.
Ok, that was a dangerous trip for me to take! (I'm trying to cut down on my downloads, but those child, teen and elder clothes were too good to pass up. I have enough toddler and adult, but the other ages seem to get shorted.)
