    Intel(R) Upgrade

Well my older brother just when university and took my good computer with him and I remember some of the specs (sims 2 would work great on it)

    3.2ghz
    1gb ram
    ATI radeon 9000
    200gb hard drive

All i can remember, and i had alot of big games on that computer, but now im left with this peice of rubbish :p...

    2.39ghz
    256mb ram
    Intel(R) 82865G + Intel(R) Extreme Graphics 2 <--(dont see it helping -.-)
    60gb hard dribe

well couple years back when i tried playing sims on this computer... it worked but graphics and lag was appauling... then after a couple of weeks my brother downloaded something (im not sure what and he forgot) but it made it run really good, it ran like it would run on my computer my brother took. Now ive been searching the past 4 days for that such update or programme but im not sure what to search and im sure it was directX 9.0c or any directx because my graphcis card isnt directx supportable.

Main reason i made this post is that if any one knows what programme will enhance my "Intel(R) 82865G" graphics performace i would really appreciate it if you told me the name of the programme and were to download it

Well, there are two ways of improving your computer. I suggest implementing both ways, however it depends budget wise.

First of all, make sure you are running the latest drivers.

Get the latest graphics driver here: Download
Get your latest chipset drivers here: Download

Second, run a complete antivirus and spyware check on your computer to make sure your computer is running in top condition. I'd also suggest uninstalling any extra programs you don't usually use normally, maybe once and never used again. If you think you will use it again in the next 9 months, leave it on the computer. If you think you'll never use it again, uninstall. Run a defrag and a scandisk too :)

Those are the two freebie solutions I can think of at the moment. The ones that will cost money (assuming the parents are willing to shell out a few bucks for the upgrades)

    1) Upgrade your RAM. With 256MB of RAM compared to the 1GB on your previous system, it makes a HUGE difference. It will affect your overall computer performance significantly :)

    2) Graphics card wise - the 865 is semiadequate to handle graphics. Consider upgrading to a semi-decent video card, something top of the line (or middle ground) without breaking the piggy bank. You can get a pretty decent card for about 200.00 nowadays.

he might have downloaded a little program called iaa or intel application accelerator, if your system suports it. it helps boost performance on the p4's or he might have simple updated windows or the game. he could have even uninstalled something that was hogging resources. the list is huge, but as your getting a new pc does it really matter?

You have smart advice but it doesn't seem to come with smartness of netiquette. Advising old threads is as dumb as it gets. If you really want to help, subscribe to the help and tech forums so that you receive email notifications of new threads. Your advise would then, at least, be up to date ... we can then begin to assess its quality. Me? I look at dates first, so your advice, thus far, is irrelevant and I haven't looked at it. It might be the purest tosh, or it might be diamond bright, but neither way matters since no-one, who cares, is going to see it as applying to them. Got it?
