It just...stops. I load up my game, I have all 7 expansion packs, and the game loads brilliantly as well as the Strangetown neighborhood. Then, everything kind of slooooooows dooooown. I've had the game as long as I've had my laptop and I've been able to play it perfectly, albeit having to lower down on my graphics a bit. It's really ticking me off that it decides to do this now. I'm running a virus check right now and it's found nothing so far. Yesterday, I load up Strangetown after many failed attempts before. It works! I'm able to play a teenager and move her to college. Then, I get to the college neighborhood, and it slows down again! I can't click on anything because my cursor doesn't highlight the houses or dorms and the cars on the street don't move. I did dxdiag on my system and it says it has nothing wrong with it, but I'll put it up here...I underlined Vista because that streams a lake of problems. You don't have the greatest graphics chip but it should play . Have you tried lowering the graphics all the wqay to the bare minimum and turning off the setting where you see houses while on the lot? Have you by chance cleaned out the vents of the laptop lately? You might also download the latest updates for your graphics chip from HP and see if that helps. If you play while you're connected to the internet try this. Unplug your internet connection from the laptop, turn off your anti-virus, anti-spyware programs, and turn off your firewall and see if it helps. You don't by chance have any of the smiley central smileycons stuff installed on your computer do you?
