Leave world? A minor mystery to me, but I told my sim to walk to the edge of the property because I wanted to film him walking to his house and the choices presented were not the usual go here-run here-skip here, but "Leave World" or "Leave World" (it was repeated). I quickly right-clicked to exit the options altogether. I didn't want to lose my sim. Then I selected a point I thought was further inside the property line, was presented with the usual "go here, etc," and left-clicked. He walked to that point and disappeared, like a ghost. I crossed my fingers, picked a point in front of his house and hit "go here." He came walking out from behind the house like nothing had happened . Don't know where he went or how he got back. It really was his own house and lot. He was not a guest, which I couldn't have told to walk anywhere. I haven't been able to repeat this weird event. I've tried (with critters I don't much like.) Anyone else have this happen?
Not too sure about that. Was it a teen? Teens can decide to run way from home, maybe that was the option you found. Darn it! Now i'm gonna have to go find out if I can make this happen for me!
Not a teen. An adult, but not a senior. Other conditions of the household are that 1) there are eight adults living on the lot, 2) I have turned the aging off, and 3) it was late at night (sim time, not my time,) 4) he has negative points in a couple of relationships with other members of the household. I don't remember whether he was tired or depressed about anything. It's my movie family and I work them kind of hard. Maybe none of this is relevant. Since I haven't been able to reproduce it, I decided the Leave World option is probably a randomized event, like twins, alien abduction and death by satelite. Two of my families have had twins. I've never had an alien abduction or death by satelite (where's my dictionary--how is that word spelled?). Now I wonder what would have happened if I had chosen the Leave World option. Would he have died? Maybe I should ask this question on the Sims2 BBS, too. There's a huge crowd of players on that page. Someone there might have seen it. I'll let you know if I get a response.
Back from a visit to Sims2 There are a number of postings about "Leave World" on the Sims2 BBS. I just did a search, didn't need to post my own question. There's a spot, apparently, near the edge but not right on the edge of the lot where the arrow changes from feet to asterisk. Someone tested it. His sims left but all were back again when he re-entered the lot after saving his game. I'm going to go and experiment.
'Leave World' shouldn't show up, it is used by the NPCs to well, leave the lot. JMP should be able to tell us this.
Found it! I went into the household of a single guy I don't play very much, woke the poor wretch up and sent him out into the night. On the second pavement square from the edge of the lot I moved the cursor back and forth very slowly until the little footprints changed to an asterisk. Left-clicked. My tired, pajama-clad little sim walked to that spot, stopped, stood still, and faded from view. It was awesome. The house went dark. The clock sped up. I saved the game, went out into the neighborhood. The house still had its green plumbob (sp?) (or whatever). I went back in and there stood my sim, dressed in his usual suit, wide awake and happy. He wanted to read a book and that's where I left him.
That is rather interesting, Lynet. It'll definitely go into our knowledge base ... if we ever get around to having one
And you're sure that you haven't downloaded anything or had the testing cheat enabled when all this was happening? Because the "Leave World" option sounds like something that would come from a cheat or hack to me.
What's an asteriks..(spl?)? Sounds like something I need to try! So did it boost all his happiness and moods and stuff?
I haven't downloaded any lots, objects, skins, etc. I've used the money cheat motherLode for building my movie sets. I've turned aging off and played around a little with stretchSkeleton (now THAT one is good for some laughs.) Oh, yes, almost forgot, I did download some "risky stuff" which I have used but never saved a game after using because there are warnings about crashing the game -- I wanted rain for one of my movie scenes. Worked nice. Filmed a minute of my sim walking in the rain, then exited the entire game without saving anything. I was careful to backup my data before trying it but have had no problems. But if you stop in at the Sims2BBS and do a search for Leave World there's more discussion over there. I don't think downloads did anything. Get in real close to the second pavement square in from the edge and move the cursor over it slowly until you find the "star".
