mall of the sims A LONG time ago I signed up with Mall of the Sims ( for sims 1 ) . I paid $4.50 a month to be able to download items for my sims. I discovered for some silly reason I could not DL anything ( win zip problem ) from MOTS. I shrugged it off and kept saying , Oh I will contact them later. Well.. Later came .. MUCH LATER ( like 5 years ) and I tried to contact them but durin the time my email has changed and of course I forgot my user name and password. I was trying to contact them to cancel my membership. Somehow I found out how to email them but they would never EVER answer me. I even called my bank and tried to get their help with cancelling the charge. NO LUCK ! ! ! As of today, I am still paying $4.50 each month for a membership I never use. I was wondering if any of you know anything about Mall of the Sims and/or know how to contact them to stop the charge to my account. I would greatly appreciate any help you guys can offer me. Thank you )) *woe is me * heh
So...you've been paying $4.50 a month for 5 years on stuff you can't use?? That's $270!! There's no place you can just cancel your membership?
If that happened to me, I would close my bank account and open a new one. Or as Josh mentioned if its PayPal.
. It went through my bank account .. my intentions were to just use it for a few months and then close it but I just kept putting it off and when I decided to do something about it , I could not. I tried tonight to get into my account but again, I could not due to information being changed. I saw no phone number to call either. .. what to do ....
Tell your bank that you don't want that charged to your account anymore, that it's not authorized. Also, your bank should have a record of where the charge is coming from, along with a telephone number. Be persistent. Be aggressive. Happened once with the company I worked for. We stopped doing business with an agency that continued to charge the bank account. Took several phone calls to both the bank and the agency to get it stopped and our money refunded. (p.s. the agency kept saying it was not their charge, but it was their phone number that the bank had on record.)
I know money is being TAKEN from your bank account, however no one in their right mind would give anyone your personal bank account number to withdraw money from. There would always be an intermediate person of some trust (like PayPal) handling the transactions for you.
Not an internet site anyway. Nor a telephone company. They screw up bills too frequently. But the bank holding your mortgage? Not such a bad idea, to make sure payments are on time. Also, I arranged automatic payment for my gas and electric bill once upon a time. Haven't done so since I moved to where I am now, but I never had a problem with the local energy company.
. My bank would do nothing about it a couple years ago. I did however email them last nite and asked for information on the company who is taking the money. Hopefully I will have some answer Monday.
Than you should close that account immediately and find another bank. You have every right to stop unauthorized charges to your account. And they should know that. Write a letter to the state bank commissioner if it's a state chartered bank, or to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency if it's a national bank. Send a copy of the letter to the board of directors of your bank. You'll get action. Banks hate to have bank examiners come knocking on their doors.
Okay, my question is this: Did you pay with PayPal, iBill, or ePenzio / Plug'n Pay If your transaction ID starts with a pp or an S followed by several letters and numbers (i.e. pp (or S)-999999999A999999B) then your payment was made via PayPal. If your transaction ID is a series of 19 numbers the first 4 being the the year of the payment (i.e. 2002050512345678901) then your payment was made via Plug'n Pay. If your transaction ID is a series of 8 or 9 numbers (i.e. 109876543) then your payment was made via iBill
. that was like 5 years ago and when i bring up my bank statement it does not list where, it just says, Mall of the Sims...... the date.......$4.50
. all good now thx guys. bank was able to give me a new check card so if the horrible Mall of the Sims people try to take money from my old card they will be declined. )D
still... it seems like the bank was negligent for not giving you helping you out sooner... Now I would start publicly posting at mall of the sims that by not having an easy out, or notifying you of the changes that prevented you from closing the account that they are guilty of theft... maybe that will even get you a refund of sorts. remember the squeaky wheel. but that's just me with a headache on a rainy saturday after my mariners got shellached by the reds.
