    Multiple player

Is Sims and/or Sims2 multiplayer? I like to play games with my wife, and i was wondering if this is possible with Sims. We just bought the DeluxeEdition of Sims but we must play with the same computer. What's the OnLine Extension for the sims? How does it work?

    TIA

I'd thought about asking this same question..just a different twist. I have two teens that want to play, too. I don't think you can install this game multiple times and I hate playing a senario and finding out my kids have filled all the blasted lots! lol I finally reinstalled the game and told them they could only build a custom neighborhood. How do others handle multiple players on a sims game? I can't be the only person with this dilema. I finally banned them from TS1 because they'd do stuff that crashed it. I'm periously close to banning them from TS2.

I would assume that if you want to play "with" someone you'd have to play the sims online version. It requires a monthly subscription to do that though. I'm afraid nothing about it appealed to me so I know little about it. Otherwise about all you can do is design a sim that looks a little like yourselves and let them interact.

    LOL,
The father of one of my RL friends made a fine oldfashioned family.
    Husband, Wife and two kids.
The player is a former member of the Jehova's Witnesses.

One day he start up the game and family, and the husband is gone!
Turned out my friend had started a new family with a single man, and had made the family father run off with him to be his homosexual buttmonkey.

I am not certain, but I do have feeling that the RL father player was NOT happy about that scenario.

In TS2, each Windows user has his/her own set of neighborhoods so they don't interfere with each other. The files are stored in each user's My Documents folder. So just create separate Windows logons for each of your kids, and you can all play without messing up each other's families.

Thank you for replying! I'm not sure I understand though. I have windows xp pro so my kids have their own accounts. When they play would it save to their document folder automatically? It didn't when they played but I thought I saw something in the tech section about problems if someone plays on a non administrative account. I had to take that ability away from them because they downloaded indescriminately. Or do I have to find a way to specify their saves go into a different folder from mine? If this works it would be fantastic!

Every user has their own "My Documents" folder, and all the savedata is stored in that, so every user on the computer can play TS2 independently of each other. In fact, I don't see how their accounts can access your savegames, because I thought Limited accounts are denied access priveleges to Administrator accounts? Even if they weren't, TS2 does not access saved games from another user's profile. Unless:

    1 - They're using your account to play TS2.
2 - All the accounts have their Documents folder set to the same folder. I, for example, have My Documents set to "J:\Documents". If all the accounts on my computer had My Documents set to that path, TS2 could theoretically "share" the saved games.
3 - I noticed that an empty folder "EA GAMES\The Sims 2" is created in "All Users\Documents". Perhaps it's putting all saved games there? Check if that folder has anything inside.

I really appreciate the info! I'll go check the files because their saves are showing up on my game. It took me ages to learn about the files for TS1. I didn't know what to look for in sims2. I hate loading the game to find they made a sim that looks just like mine or built a house on a lot I had made plans for. Thank you, again!

yeah. the way that Maxis set up the saving system for ts2 is a godsend imo. i cant tell you how many times i loaded up sims 1 and ended up seeing my prized family totally farked. between the bathroom being flooded and trash all over the place, it was rediculous. atleast now i know that noone is gonna be touching my family. period. because absolutely noone knows my account password and although my mom is the only other one with an administrator account, she wouldnt have any reason to get into the save files anyhow.

    anyways, back OT:

unless your kids know how to get into your account, i dont see how their saves are showing up. if anything, id change around the password on your account atleast temporarily and see if it helps.

I don't use passwords. They might have played using my account though. I had to take administrative away from them because they kept trying to download music from kazaa. It's penalty of death to access kazaa on my comp or download music. My kids are virus magnets so they have to have permission to download stuff. If they do it from my account I can see it immediately. It never occurred to me that ea had made the game multiple player friendly on TS2! lol I had to uninstall and reinstall the game yesterday so I'll check to make sure they are set up to play correctly this time.

yeah. if your account isnt set up to use a password, i highly recommend you set up a password. this is most likely the #1 reason how they are accessing your neighborhoods and families.
