My Sims can't get married. Help! All my Sims are living in sin. They can't get married. No matter what I do the "propose" option will not come up. Their relationship meters are at 100/100, they are in love and have 3 lightening bolts for each other. I used the love potion, had them date, moved them in together, moved them out of their homes and back, put them in new homes on new lots and nothing works. Has anyone else had this problem? I would appreciate any and all suggestions on how to fix this. I would hate to have to reinstall everything. I've grown rather attached to some of these couples.
I hope you don't have to reinstall the whole game. I think that reinstalling is a rather drastic solution, to be done only as a very last resort. I've never had the problem you're having, but could you answer a couple of questions? Is this a recent problem? Were you able to have sims propose and marry before now? Do you have any hacks, mods or downloads that you installed recently? I'm going to go do a quick search on this site. The problem sounds vaguely familiar. Yup, looks like there was some discussion about a year ago. Read Mirelly's suggestion on how to test this. And let us know how it goes.
Yes. Patch first then check your downloads folder for hacks. Paladins Hack Conflict Scanner is what the "professionals" use to check hacks against new expansion packs. It is available from http://www.simwardrobe.com/ (then click thru Sims 2 >> Programs) It will point up hacks that are using the same code (or interfering with global variables that mess up the game in unintended ways).
This is a recent problem. My Sims always could propose and marry before. I don't have any new hacks, mods, or downloads. I ran the Hack Conflict Scanner and it said I have no conflicts. I'm really at a loss as to why this is happening. With one couple I used the love potion and it made the propose option come up but when I tried it with other couples it didn't work.
Too late to edit my last post but I forgot to add I have all the patches. I get them as soon as they come out.
I know you said that you didn't have any new hacks, downloads, etc., but did you try moving your Downloads folder out of the game, as described by Mirelly in that other thread?
Is this just one couple, or is the problem affecting any pair of sims? I think there's a chance that some pairings will never quite get to ring-swapping. Have you got Seasons? I've had some problems since I got Seasons because of the seasonal variation in relationships. It can be very difficult to get some types of relationship off the ground outside of spring.
The problem has occured with several couples. I'm only playing a few families right now so it's been everyone I've tried so far...lol. Yes, I do have seasons. I hadn't thought of it having anything to do with the changes in seasons. If that's the case, EA needs to make a new patch.
