My Superstar Problem Hi I purchased Superstar yesterday and I am already having a problem. When I select to go downtown to the HotDate screen, either with a star or without, the game will only let me visit one property. I no longer have use of the other properties. Anyone else have that problem with the new expansion pack? I haven't visited the old town or went on vacation yet so I don't know if those screens are affected. I hope its just a simple bug. Do you mean it won't let you click on anything but one particular lot with the car when you're going there in the first place, or that it won't let your sim call on the phone to "go somewhere else" instead of going home? I've only taken one "Somebody" sim on a date to Downtown and I didn't try to take them anywhere but the Boardwalk... which lot was the one lot it let you go to?! I haven't tried Old Town or Vacation yet either, tell me how those go! For the Downtown properties thing, you might try to see if it will let you click on those properties in Build mode, where you go downtown WITHOUT a sim... make sure that will let you go there at all.... and it might undo whatever's blocking your sim from the other lots... just a wild idea though....
I was able to get onto the Old Town screen with out any difficulties and I am able to visit any lot there with my sims. And I can build on any lot. HotDate is another story. Yes, Maxis only gives me that lot to go onto with a sim. Its the original lot with the candy and clothing shop and Tiki restaurant (lot 23 I think). Sure, I can still build, so thats not a problem, but I can't visit any other lot with my sim. Its too bad. I really don't like that Tiki restaurant.
erk! No Captain Hedmans! (I always dress my sims up fancy/formal to go there... ) Hmmm...I guess you can remodel the tiki restaraunt into something you LIKE better in the meantime, but I don't have a clue how to fix the blocked lots problem! I would probably write a bug report letter to Maxis and hope they get back to you... I did that for my sims that were stuck kissing and they DID eventually write back... telling me to reinstall everything! But by that time I'd found the cheat "prepare_lot" that got them unstuck!
Hi FaeLuna I took your advice and wrote to Maxis about the problem I was having. They wrote me back the same day and told me that I wasn't the first person to have that problem and they weren't sure on how to fix it. They asked for information from my Direct X 9 program which I gave to them. This evening I got bored and uninstalled my game, ran SimEraser and reloaded everything back on. I backed up all of my downloads and such first. Backing up didn't really help. All of my objects vanished, which isn't the greatest news, but my game now works perfectly. As far as I can tell I don't have any more problems. Its still a mystery and I wish I knew why it happened in the first place. Oh well. I began downloading objects and I nearly have everything back, but I am a little scared to put them into the Downloads folder. I've heard that some people are having great difficulty using User Made Objects. Have you had any trouble? Sincerely, Amy
Yeah. I have no clue why they vanished when I uninstalled. When I had to reinstall Unleashed the same thing happened. I spent hours last night and today getting most of them back. This time I am not downloading new bars and new cashregisters with NPC's. It takes too long when you are on dialup, plus I didn't even use half the bars I had. I don't really care what my NPC's look like. Just as long as they work right. I think this time I will burn all of my downloads onto CD's. It would make things easier if I ever lost them again. I should have done that with the pay sites I downloaded from. Oh well. Sincerely, Amy
I procrastinated and I have yet to burn anything. Still looking for new wallpapers. I have a question for all who own Superstar. Is it still possible to catagorize objects to use with the other expansion packs? Sincerely, Amy
aaah I'm sorry you lost all your downloads!! I never had problems with downloaded objects but I put most of them into the objects folder, not the downloads folder.... Burning all your downloads to back them up is a good idea!! I'm really glad you got your game working again though even if you had to reinstall!
Thanks Josh, I'll see if I can locate one. Yeah I'm happy about that too FeaLuna. Its too bad that I did have to reinstall. I was at 3.5 stars when I decided that I needed to reinstall if I wanted to use the Hotdate lots. Well, at least I can make nice clothing shops. Plus I don't have to use that Tiki restaurant if I don't want to. Putting the downloads into the object folder is a good idea. I've never heard of anyone losing their downloads from that folder.
