New Computer!! Well we FINALLY got our new computer!! It's HERE!! We only got the tower and all the hardware that goes in it, since we had a monitor that used to belong to my brother, and the old mouse and keyboard that originally came with this one before my mom got me cordless ones. Unfortunately, to save money, we also got it WITHOUT any software because we already HAVE Win XP Pro and plan to install Linux on this as the old computer... BUT now we can't find the DISCS!!! Aaaaarrrggghh!!! One cd and one floppy... hiding, lurking, teasing us by NOT being where they're SUPPOSED to be!! agh!! Other good news, I finally have Milkshape PROPERLY registered! (There were some problems with the data base and my registration codes because my parents paid for it for my birthday so the credit card was my MOTHER's name, and I had to email to get the database corrected, and they ended up having to get rid of the original codes and sent me all new ones, whew!!) Hopefully we'll be able to get the new computer up and running within this week or so, I'm DYING to play sims again, and be able to test my new meshes IN the game, which I wasn't able to do with this SLOW computer as it wouldn't run Unleashed normally so I wouldn't know if it was my meshes making it buggy or not!! Anyway, look for new stuff from me in February!! Watch out worlds here I come!! It's good to be back.
Thanks tess!! It's still sitting here waiting for us to find the POWER CORD we know we have SOMEWHERE that goes to the MONITOR... and for our tech friend to come over and help us get win xp OFF of THIS computer and ON to the NEW one!! I'm anxious to get Milkshape 3D onto the new one and it should make my meshing learning MUCH faster!! Also I uninstalled Sims Unleashed (well ALL the sims actually, the whole thing! ) off this computer and I'm DYING to get it running so I can test my meshes!! Can't release them on the general public UNTESTED!! ak! I'm kind of obsessing about that now, anxious to get my new stuff up! I keep watching movies and stuff and catching myself trying to plan how to make meshes for costumes or clothes from the movie....
You go Girl! Speaking of Skins... Are they hard to make? I've tried doing Objects for my own game, but, no skins yet. What kind of computer did you get? I'm curious.
I think skins are easier than objects... except when you start messing with the mesh part!! We got a tower and bought all the components separately, so I guess you would say it's a custom computer, the parts are made by different companies!! It's a Pentium 4 chip in an Albatron motherboard, 2.-something (I think 2.3 or 2.4) Gigahertz, has 120G hard drive, 512 RAM that we'll double when we get more money, a dvd drive, and a cd drive/burner. The motherboard comes with built in sound and graphics cards, but we can replace those with better ones later on too. Oh my!!! I just looked over at the new computer and one of my cats is GROOMING the keyboard!!!!! :whitekitty:

Congrats on the computer Fae! It is a real nice change when you can go bigger and faster. Bruce built this one for me last Feb. and we upgraded the ram a few months ago, and I love it! LOL, I should thank Maxis, I had to upgrade to be able to play the games. *wishes I could buy Josh and everyone a new puter *

Ulmo is hiding... I know he's here SOMEWHERE but I forgot what I NAMED him which is making him hard to find, sorry! Well my sims original game looks like it's dead... sort of... I lost the jewel case long ago and I had what I THOUGHT was the registration code thing copied down... looks like I must have written it wrong because it doesn't work... BUT... (heh heh heh...) This DOES give me a good excuse to get Deluxe at the first opportunity!!! This means my mesh testing is further delayed though, arrrrrggghhh! :( Hope you get the parts you need for your computer Nina!! And I hope you can somehow get a new computer soon too Josh!!
It's ok Fae. You'll find him. And you will get going with your meshes too I'm sure. Fae, if you registrerd your sims game at maxis you will find the code there under registration and your mastername. There is also a program at www.simsplus.com for retrieval of those numbers. I can't garantee anything but it's worth a try I think. :classic: Good luck! *Gives Fae a big hug*
I found him!! I cleaned him up and posted him in the suggestions forum. I was trying to register my sims for the first time when I got Unleashed, and I NEVER got the email back from the official site, so I guess that won't help me. :( I guess I will go look at simsplus.
Well... I found something to help find the number on the registry, but it looks like I messed up by uninstalling everything from THIS computer before I put it on the new one. Since the game isn't installed anymore it's not able to find the number. :( Well... maybe we'll see about getting Deluxe first instead of Sim City 4 or Sims Online!! We have to get a router before anything else though....
Whew, who knew getting a new computer could create so much upheval and total CHAOS!! Not to mention so much WORK!? We got a nice surprise and I got a check I didn't think I would be getting so soon, so we got to go out and buy a router, and now have BOTH computers online, sharing connection to the internet and able to share files between them! Yay! We also turned in all the change we were collecting for several months in the "movie money jar" and it was $100, and my hubby was so nice to let me get Deluxe with most of it!! Yay!!! The past 2 days one of my friends has been over here helping me install all the programs that were on the other computer, like yahoo messenger etc. PLUS a bunch of stuff that wasn't, but I just never knew I always wanted, like something called Desktop Archetect that lets you make desktop themes!! I want to make themes!! Maybe even sims theme... hmm.... She also let me borrow a bunch of her games because when she lost her internet I let her borrow most of my games BESIDES sims so she wouldn't go nuts! So I'm being good and not disappearing into gameland YET... So far I only have Deluxe installed as far as sims stuff goes, and I haven't even gotten to play it yet! I need to move or install a ton of sims related programs like transmogrifier and Simpose, and finish installing all the expansions today! I'm side-tracked by the AIML version of an AI I'm learning to make though, that's all Decryption's fault!! I keep thinking of stuff I want to program into it.... it's not a cool bulleten board one like Decryption though, just one on a webpage... I tried to go register ALL my sims games so I'll never lose the codes again... BUT they still haven't sent me my email from when I tried to register just Unleashed in December!! So I sent email for tech help and hope I get HELP!! If anyone knows how to speed that up, it's much appreciated!! OK... I think that's most of the update! Oh, and my friend's cat had KITTENS the morning she was supposed to come over and spend the night too!!! :whitekitty: She got them all set and comfy and with plenty of food and water and came over anyway, and then last night when we took her home I got to see them!
