    #@$^ patch.

I had my first ever game crash (an illegal operation where it crashed to the desktop with termination error) just after I installed the patch.

Anyone else experienced this? It happened first with a specific family, then with a specific lot. I deleted both and haven't had it happen since, but I am very unamused. I liked that lot and family. They were FINE before the patch.

To avoid potential problems with the patch, it helps to do prepatch preparations: Make sure all of your families in all of your neighborhoods are "parked": Wake everyone up, stop all interactions with all objects, take off all aspirational headpieces, and make everyone stand still on an empty square. Free Will off should keep them from trying to think of something to do and messing this up. Save the game with everyone in a "parked" state. This should minimize disruptions caused by the patch, which resets everyone.

Yeah, I was gonna say something similar. I was used to making similar preparations with TS1 before installing an EP. It was always such a serious nuisance to gameplay after installing an EP to find a family that when last played had just gone to bed now standing there at 1am wide awake and full of energy and knowing that at least one of them had an 11am start by which time he would be tired and unlikely to make his promotion ...

In my innocence I wasn't expecting the patch to make such drastic alterations to the game's save files.

Yeah, all sims, regardless of state, will be reset to full energy, so you might want to make sure your save time is at the time where everyone would wake up, so that you'll be at full energy at the normal time in the day. Fortunately, TS2 has meditation, which can help, but you still have ASP bleed during meditation, so it's not perfect.

On the other hand, if you have platinum, need-based mood means squat....

ROFL :D I was so confused as to why after the patch was installed that my sims all seemed to be standing there all in the green when I surely hadn't left them that way. Now I know. I didn't realise you had to "park" your sims before installing new stuff to you game. Is it necessary to do that with any modifications you might install???? (eg. like the mods found on modthesims2?)

No, this is usually not a necessary process, UNLESS you are installing a mod which alters the Motive Helper's BHAVs, such as "don't nag me".

    alien invasion?

I've just loaded one of the families (The Lone Gunmen + partners & alien baby :) ) that I hadn't played since patch installation and something weird is going on there. I hadn't parked my families before patch installation because I wasn't aware of this recommendation at that time.

Anyway, there's now a bunch of sims standing in front of the house, talking to the wall or to an invisible mobile phone, and I can't get rid of them. None of my resident sims seem able to interact with them, I mean, I can select all the options like Talk and so on, but nothing happens, probably because the other sims are already interacting with some invisible object (phone or sim).

Anyone any idea how I can solve this? If I use moveobjects to delete them, will they spawn back in the place where they belong? They're not all townies, so it's quite important that they're not completely lost...
