Please don't make me kill my children

    Greetings,
I received Apartment Life as a Christmas Gift and I am enjoying using it, but a situation arose where I need someone's help. I hope anyone can give me some advice, but please don't make me kill my children.

I added in Pleasantville a small apartment building and moved into it my sim named Alice Tracy. I added to her appartment her University sweetheart, Jarad Starchild. Jarad proposed to Alice and they then got married and started a family. Alice now has three children, Quenton, Boris, and Georgia.

While Alice was at the university, she was able to raise many of her skills to level 10, including cooking.

After Alice and Jarad had been living in the apartment building a few days with only townies as neighbors, I decided to move the Oldie family in next door. I thoght that the Oldies might not make so much noise through the walls in the middle of the night.

Once the Oldies had moved in, I went back to playing the Starchild family and I discovered that Alice had lost most of her cooking skills. She could now only cook Chef's Salad and Instant Meal for dinners.

I searched a few sites for help, and later found that the Apt Life Patch had a correction for this:

"Cooking skill no longer goes down once a family is moved onto the same apartment lot as another Sim."

I installed that patch and started the game again, but Alice still had a very low cooking skill. I tried studying again and raised her skill to the next level, but when she went to Serve Dinner, she still could only serve Chef's Salad and Instant Meals.

I tried using SIMPE to adjust her skill back to 10, but that did not give her any meals. I tried putting her skill back to 4 and studying again to the next level, but that didn't work either.

I realize that someone may tell me to uninstall Apt Life and the patch, putting Alice and Jarad back to being singles again, and then install Apt Life and the patch before I move them back into that apartment building. Sure, I presume that after doing that, Alice will have her cooking skills and all of her known meals back, but that will kill the children. Maybe I am too sentimental, or maybe I just have too strict of ethics to take that type of action without looking for less cruel alternatives.

I appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thank you. :)
