    plz help...

i just bought the sims 2 today and was exited to play until i got a couple of errors that popped up.
the first one was for Open for Business, and it stated that horrible error that i have read many posts on about direct x 9.0. i decided to try and see if the sims 2 would work alone.
another error popped up stating: "CD/DVD emulation software has been detected. Please disable all CD/DVD emulation software and re-start the game."

its probably a simple answer, but wat in gods name does that mean?

by the way im not very computer literate, but here are some of my "specs"

Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1 Build 2600)
BIOS: Pheonix Rom BIOS Plus Version 1.10 XP2
    Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1500MHz
    Memory: 512MB Ram
    DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c

    Device
    Name: S3 ViRGE DX/GX
    Approx. Total Memory: 4.0 MB

and my DDI version is 7, i read on a previous post i have to get that to read 8 or 9, ive done the direct 3D test and the direct draw test and they were all completed successfully. im almost positive that i need a new graphics card, but what should i do about the CD emulation error?

S3 ViRGE DX/GX - Not a DirectX 9.0C compatible Graphics Card. You'll need to buy a new graphics card.

As for CD/DVD Emulation, are you using an image file to run the game?

CD emulation software is stuff like Alcohol 120%

See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disk_image_emulator for information about that sort of thing. If you have it on your puter then uninstall it or disable it. Check your Start menu and make sure to use Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs to search for programs that may have been removed accidentally from the start menu ... I am not kidding ... weird and funny things happen all the time
