    Question about Pregnancy

I have a concern about about one of my sims. If this has been brought up before, I'm sorry--I am an experienced TS2 player, but this is my first time posting anything about it.

Anyway, I have a pregnant Sim who has been in her third trimester for at least one day longer than usual, and is showing no signs of having the baby. I HAVE installed University, but this Sim got pregnant AFTER it was downloaded, so I know that the installation didn't neccessarily have anything to do with this possible glitch (believe me, I've had enough that occured because of the installation! ). Could my Sim just be waiting longer to have her baby? And if this is a glitch, what can I do to fix it? I don't want my Sim pregnant forever!

    Thanks so much,
JLM (Totally Obsessed with The Sims 2)

Oops this sounds like a snafu caused by the expansion install. Sorry but it might be necessary to use something like SimPE (http://sims.ambertation.de/) a nifty package file editor to edit your sim description file ... probably back to not pregnant because I am not sure there is a way to force labor to begin.

Is there a possibility that you set aging off? I had something similar myself once ... it was the only time I ever used the aging off cheat and I ended up with two babies for about 6 sim days before I started wondering why the eldest one still hadn't grown into a toddler ... this was way back last September but I still blush when I remember it.

    I fixed my problem!!!

I was hemming and hawing over the issue for awhile yesterday when I compared the pregnancy issue to another problem I had a ling time ago--one of my Sims had gotten stuck in a bathtub. To resolve that issue, I had moved the entire family of the stuck Sim off the lot, and all was fine again. I thought, if I moved the pregnant Sim, would she get "unstuck" and have her baby?

The problem with this was that I didn't want to move my entire (rather large) fanily out of their very nicely decorated (and just remodeled) home. Then a brainstorm hit me--I could move just my pregnant Sim off the lot and onto a new one! In theory, she could have the baby on the new lot, and then, with the wonderful new way of combining households that came with University, I could just move her and the baby back in with the family!

I tried this eagerly, making a new lot which I called "Maternity Ward." My pregnant Sim moved in at 8:00 AM. By 1:15, she had her brand-new baby girl, and the whole family was re-united.

An easy fix to a complicated problem! :)
