  1. Robots question

    Hi all

Ummm, do the Hydrobots and such (ie the ones that aren't 'toy robots') actually get bought by customers?

I've had one of each of the silver level ones in my shop, on sale, normal price, for days now, and no-one buys them!

Is it just that I'm bad at business?

And that aside, am I right in just mass producing toy robots and having shelves full of them, or should I be diversifying? I have around 12-18 on sale at the start of the day and normally sell at least half.

They should buy them. I noticed in my flower shop though that the items my sim puts together does not get browsed or bought nearly as often as the items from the buy catalog. Maybe try only selling the things you made?

I had trouble with this, too. I found out that I had to put what apeared to be the robot's base for sale. Once I put a price on the "base", the robots sold like hotcakes. I played a family today that I hadn't played in a while, and found a "CleanBot" in the little Mrs.'s inventory. :D

I just sold my first two robots, tonight. I have to make more before I can open the shop again! And, yes, make sure you click on the base with the price tag thingy or no one will buy them.

As for diversifying, the advantage to having one or two things in the shop that you don't make is, they're easier to restock. I sell game systems as well as robots in mine. And toy robots, of course, but I have to make them, too.

I bought an extra robot making bench so my sim's wife can make them too ... we've got to step up production, LOL ...

  5. The base is for sale in my shop, I noticed that too that you have to price the base not the robot.

So apparently people just don't want to buy my 'normal' price utility robots, which is a shame but I'll keep trying.

Oh, does anyone know what happens to a business
    a) after the death of the owner and
    b) after the death of the last person on the lot?

I'm mostly curious as to whether you get to keep business perks or whether they are linked to the owner (so die with him).

I've noticed a couple of new options for interactions that may answer your question. I haven't tried them yet. One is to transfer connections, or something like that, which I assume means transfer your business perks to another person. The way it's worded is confusing. I'm not sure if it means share them or give them away. Guess you'd have to experiment. If someone figures it out, post it here!

The other is propose/transfer business, which a business owner should do when they retire so their heirs can keep things going.

Which may be an argument for having children, though you could just have a niece or nephew move in after they graduate from college or become an adult and transfer the business to them ...

You don't have to wait until the teen becomes an adult. Teens can own businesses, or at least one of mine does. I thought I had the mother selected when I called the real estate office but I had the teen daughter instead. Imagine my surprise when the sale went through and she became a business owner 4 days before becoming an adult! This business isn't doing as well as it was when it was a home based business in the old house though. :(
