Sims 2 Short Story Contest :listen: oint: ANNOUNCING THE WORLDSIMS SHORT STORY CONTEST rofile:  Many thanks to our friend Vega for suggesting this contest and for keeping the idea on the front burner. General Rules: 1) Your story has to be from the Sims 2 game. 2) Pictures are not required but they’ll probably help get you votes. They can be embedded in the story or added as attachments. (Embedded pictures use up word space.) 3) This is a SHORT story contest. Think about the plot. Does it have a beginning, a middle and an end? Try to keep it to one post, which holds more than you think, about 3 or 4 thousand words. 4) Write as many stories as you want to, but submit ONLY ONE story to the contest. 5) Pay attention to grammar and spelling. If no one can understand it because of the grammar mistakes, no one will vote in favor of it. 6) Publish a story in the Short Story Contest category of the World Sims Library. Just click the Submit Story link at the above page and you're good to go. After you have published your story, post it's title as a reply in this thread, so everyone can go read it. 7) No public discussion of the stories allowed until after the contest ends and the voting is done. (We want to be fair.) 8) No voting until after the deadline. I’m still not clear how we’ll do that, but there’s time over the next month to figure it out. 9) The prize is yet to be determined, but don’t let that hold you up. Important: This is a family site. All the rules that apply to participation in the forums will apply to your story as well. If you're not sure about the rules, read this. The deadline for submitting a story is Midnight, June 15, 2007, Pacific Daylight Time.
:trophy: The PRIZES !!! :trophy: The Prizes offered by Manager Josh for the Short Story Contest are FANTASTIC. Thank you, Josh! Go take a look here:  http://forums.worldsims.org/showthread.php?p=127393#post127393 And Friends, don't stop with writing a short story. There are other prizes for authors, too. Thank you, too, Vega, for the idea of the contest.
Summer Sims Literacy Competition The Summer Sims Literacy Competition ends August 31, 2007. This is wonderful. So we'd better stop talking and start writing.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: I just noticed that Josh has changed the Minimum of chapters in the Literacy Competition. I thought I'd ad this 'cause Lynet has posted the old quote and I think the minimum of chaps is very important for the people entering this competition. So you don't have to stress as much anymore, chaps! Take a look.
I've just finnished my first chapter for the Literacy Competition!! Woo go me. Here it is (tadaa! http://forums.worldsims.org/library/showentry.php?e=248&catid=subscriptions Title: The Viscottis' Tales at Pesky Peak Category: The Viscottis' Tales at Pesky Peak Genre: Haven't got a clue. It's a bit romantic (though the first chapter isn't one bit romantic :up / drama / whatever Enjoy the first chapter of my new "book".
I have just uploaded my story for the Short Story Contest. It's called, To the place where I belong. Thank you for reading it. Just a reminder -- we're not supposed to post comments until after the voting. Thanks.
Question about the book category (10 chapter minimum)... Does the book entry need to be complete by the deadline? In other words, if you have posted enough chapters to meet the minumum, can your entry still be considered even if the story isn't finished yet?
Wow, Sacha. We're getting some tough questions about this contest. My feeling about it is that I would like to see as many people as possible post as many stories as possible in the Library. Why don't you just start your story and see if you like writing it and how it goes. There doesn't yet appear to be a lot of competition for the Summer Sims Literacy Contest at the moment. So if you don't compete, Muffin may rake in ALL the prizes. If Josh feels differently, maybe you could arrange the first 10 chapters of your saga as Book One of a multi-volume set.
I've loaded up my short story now and put it in the library. I call it Icicles through the Heart. Just for the record: you have no idea how long it took me to get some of the pictures that I got in that story. I'd like to thank the people (even though they'll never see this) for the downloads that I used in this game - helped me a lot and I apreciate it. Enjoy and thanks for reading my short story!
Heh, another chapter for you guys to read. Carrying on The Viscottis Tales at Pesky Peek of course. Chapter Two is called: And then it happened Things are moving along in this chapter but I still haven't gotten to the main plot yet. Chapter 3 coming soon. :winks: Enjoy and thanks for reading!
I'm going to enter the Summer Sims Literacy Competition. The story is titled A Masterpiece of Nature. It will be about Mrs. Crumplebottom. I've posted Chapter 1: One spaghetti dinner too many. (p.s. I had posted a minor comment about the chapter which I then deleted when I remembered that comments were not permitted. :sigh: My screen now shows a guest comment that does not exist. Please ignore it. Thank you.)
But you're allowed to drop feedback on the story in comment form - if I'm not very much misstaken. :boggled:
Oh, well that would be cool. My comment wasn't anything earthshattering, just that I'm working on the pictures and they are still not ready yet, and something about Mrs. Crumplebottom. Kind of what you did with yours, which I'd forgotten about. So don't worry about it. It's OK. Sorry to worry you. Meanwhile, I have posted Chapter 2: Buried love (Still no pictures. Everytime I get out my camera she hits me with her purse. )
The Viscottis' tales at Pesky Peek has got itself a new chapter: D.A.D (You'll figure out what the initials stand for if you think hard enough - after reading the chapter, of course. :winks
Well here it goes my story. i called it Star Dust hope you enjoy it http://forums.worldsims.org/library/showentry.php?e=293
I think that the deadline for voting is June 30. Meanwhile, I've uploaded another chapter to my story, A Masterpiece of Nature: Chapter 3: Why the Beater was banned in Pleasantview. I'm really getting to like Mrs. Crumplebottom a lot. I'm a little light on the pictures so far, (none at all for this chapter) but everyone knows her so well, anyway...
