    Sims not on Create-A-Family option!

Earlier I made some sims on Body Shop and I packaged them into the game. Problem is they are showing on Body Shop twice but not in my game.

I can't seem to find them in my Sim Bin for the Create-A-Family bit.

I have Nightlife as an expansion pack and it is updated with the latest patch.

    Can anyone help me?

    Thank you.

It does seem to be a bit buggy, generally. I have even seen a Body Shop special I had made show up in the CAS custom bin as the default capri-pants mesh. I loaded it anyway and to my amused suprise she was the spitting image of the custom Body Shop special ... it just didn't seem to have exported a bin image for her.

Are you using the game supplied Body Shop? (And exiting from the program properly?) After installing Nightlife the original Body Shop may not be working properly ....

    For you that would be:

    C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Nightlife\CSBin\TS2BodyShop

This is probably not the solution to your problem. However, I will mention it.

I have created so many sims in body shop and saved them for the game that when I go into the Create a Family and look in the 'canned' sim bin there (as opposed to using the random sim generator) what I see and click on may not necessarily be the sim I actually get. It's some kind of glitch. I realized this problem when I went looking for my character Joe Harcourt in the male sim collection and he wasn't there. However, there was a female sim mixed in with all the guys. I clicked on her and 'voila' I got Joe.

It seems the game sometimes does not properly match up the thumbnail picture and the sim. So far no serious problems result. Inspite of how I found Joe, he still won't wear a dress. You should see his sister, though. Ooh la la ;)

Oop, we posted at the same time. Good thing yours came first.

Thank you both for your help. I definitely agree with Nightlife being buggy, it's more confusing than Sims 2 lol especially when restoring neighbourhoods and that!

I've repackaged my sims using the Nightlife Bodyshop. Let's just hope it works. I'll edit my post once I find out :D

Edit: It didn't work. Maybe I've done it wrong but never mind. I'll just have to make them on the create a family menu.

It never occurred to me that there might be an updated body shop. Is that the case? Does it install right over top of the original body shop? Preserving anything you've created?

A new Body Shop is installed in the program files folder for each EP ... I have no advanced technical knowledge concerning what difference there are between the various versions but (for consistency and safety) you should use the one that is related to the latest EP you are running.

The easiest way to ensure this is to use the Start Menu launcher as the game installer should remove previous entries ... unless, like me, you're one those people who rearranges the Start menu items and confuses poor old InstallShield

Whatever version of Body Shop you use all of them still access the same save files folders in My Docs\EA Games\The Sims2

Well I've used Body Shop that came with Sims 2 and Nightlife to get my sims but they don't seem to transfer into the game.

They just clone themselves on Body Shop . My clothes I've downloaded haven't showed up in the game either despite putting them in the Sims 2 download folder.

Downloads <- is the name for your your download folder ... capital D and the plural is important

    It should be in
    C:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\

Are you the only user of the computer? (Or using the only Windows user account?)

Yes my folder is labelled Downloads lol. It is in that folder category thingie and I am the only user.

When I had Sims 2 I could get my downloads and stuff on it fine but with Nightlife I'm a bit lost lol.

    I am smarter than I seem .. I think :p

Just olne other point. Nightlife introduced the annoyance of the need to actually enable custom content. It's that big pale blue monstrosity that you have to click away before you get to the neighborhood chooser. If you do find that you have to enable custom content because it has been disabled so far (and that would also stop you seeing your Body Shop creations) you'll need to save and exit and then restart the game after enabling because just saying yeah lets have some o' that custom content isn't quite enough to convince it ... :(

LOL I know I seem patronising ... I'm not really ... I just try to pretend that everyone is a dumb as wot I am :p

I do have custom content enabled because of the insimenator being installed.

It's just one of those things lol. Thank you for helping Mirelly! :D
