Spontaneous biting of player characters ...

I had my first player character bitten by a vampire last night. I don't really mind because there's Vamp-D and it makes the game a little more exciting, still I didn't realize it could happen.

For some reason I thought it was confined to NPCs and townies, but the Countess turned Xander while his brother Alec was on a date at the same restaurant. So technically, I guess, at the time he was a townie since I couldn't control him.

It was just kind of a shock. Alec's wants suddenly changed to "change Xander back from vampire" and I was like, What?!!

Fortunately, my sims always carry Vamp-D so it was easy to switch him back. Good thing because he was holding his new baby when I went back to his house.

I can't wait to get Night Life..
With the addition of Vampires the Hoods can really get way out of hand..

This is a little worrisome. I find many of my other playable sims wandering around town as NPCs when I take one of them shopping or out to eat. Looks like I'd better stock up on Vamp-D because my next visit to one of those households might find them all hissing at the sun.

It's odd, I have yet to see a vampire count or countess while my Sims have ventured to downtown. Ashley Pitts only met the countess but they're 0/0 at the moment and she won't have anything to do with him. It'd make my neighborhood more interesting if I had some aliens, zombies, and vamps, but all I have right now are aliens and alien offspring.

The only time I've had anyone bitten, townies or otherwise, was when I was playing someone on the premises. So as far as I know you don't have to worry about a player sim becoming a vampire without your knowing it.

The random biting appears to be some sort of bizarreness of the system, and can be eliminated along with several vampire-related bugs. It's actually quite fatal because your sim might be outside doing something on his home lot when you last left, and suddenly he's a vampire. BAM. Dead.

Well, you scared me with that one, Pescado. I downloaded your hack.

I'm way too attached to this particular bunch of sims to let them die in a freak accident.

Thanks for the warning, and the hack.

Randy London was bitten. I was in another household and looking for vampires so I took my sim, the bad ol' Quinn MacAdam, downtown to the "Wired." As soon as the lot loaded I saw Randy London standing next to the Count, looking pale and sheepish. He'd been turned just as I'd arrived. I didn't even see it happen.

Randy is one of my playable sims, married to the beautiful Ivy Copur. I decided to visit their house and found them eating breakfast together. They had very little money so they sold their dresser and bought a coffin. Randy went immediately to bed in it.

Interestingly, Randy (a fortune sim) wanted to be cured, and Ivy (a knowledge sim) wanted to be bitten.

Ivy bought some Vamp-D for Randy but wouldn't give it to him until he bit her. Now he's cured and keeps rolling the wish that she be cured of vampirism but she's having too much fun at the moment. :p

Drat! No one will bite Quinn. Everyone hates him (except Dalila and Lily,) even the vampires. ;)

Quinn must be nasty indeed, and would make a very good vampire, I agree.

It's simple. Have him make friends with Ivy, then play her, invite him over, and voila. Vampire.

Knowledge sims ALWAYS want to be vampires, even those that should know better. It's annoying, actually.

Apollo wants to be one, for example, as does his fiancee Allegra, but I had already decided they aren't going to be vamps so they can just forget about it. :p

Sometimes you just have to put your foot down.

I had this happen to Jackson Hicks. I was so mad I couldn't see straight! Jackson had taken Victoria on a date, and as they were leaving the lot, Count Jay walked up and bit him. Jackson didn't even know Jay!! I played around with him as a vampire for all of 5 minutes, then bought the Vamp-D. I've downloaded a lot of hacks, including yours JMP, to keep my vampires under control. I only have a select few I want to be vampires. Sweet family sim Jackson is not one of them! :(

I have the Prima guide, and I read that once one sim is bitten, all the other sims in the neighborhood are fair game until 10% of the neighborhood is bitten. After that, all bites must be user initiated. Does that clear things up?
