The Genetics Game This thread is a pictorial update on the status of my neighborhood, Nirvanaville. The focus: the Lockhart Dynasty, and how messed up in game births can me. Kairi Lockhart Curious, daughter of Al and Tifa Lockhart + Boba Fett Curious, son of an alien and Vidcund Curious = Leia Curious, a child who was born ugly due to lack of space between her nose and upper lip. I thought it was due to Boba's ugliness when he was a child, but actually...Leia looks a lot like her mother. Go figure. I hope to God Leia's baby brother Luke doesn't get the ugly genes. Lulu Lockhart Curious, daughter of Goopy and Paine Lockhart + Starboy Curious, son of Boba's alien mother and Vidcund's brother Pascal = Andromeda Curious, half alien, half red eyed beauty. The big red eyes are really scary looking up close. Tidus Lockhart, son of Remington and Rikku Lockhart (and big softie for a military man) + Ivy Copur Lockhart (altered from her teenage appearance) = Portulaca Lockhart, cute considering she has mommy's big nose. Hey, she's probably the cutest of her other cousins so far. She has two brothers: toddler Narcissius (adopted) and baby Hyacinth. Wakka Lockhart, Lulu's twin brother, has no children...yet. Still married to Yuffie: who is pregnant with the couple's first child. Sora Lockhart, Kairi's brother, is in college. Kinda looks like Elvis...sorta. And this is the second generation...not including the Barkers, who include Lora Yuna and Garrett (who met their quota of 6 children the other day by adopting two children), and David Merrick and Dizzy, who only have one child, Meryl. The first gen people are still alive and kicking. I am hoping some pass on to the next world sometime soon before the 6 kids in college come home...
Wow Cheezy!!! Those are really cool! Your aliens are wild, and those red eyes are scarry. Ivy Copur is a pretty Sim, though and Sora's handsome. Bobba looks just like my alien sim, Orion Jerry. Same hair and everything!
Thanks. I had a hard time figuring out which hair went with Boba the best...I got fed up and picked that hairdo and it stuck. It works. I have to admit Ivy is a pretty Sim; Tidus did very well. I might post pics of my other families later...hmm...
Chee-Z, can you take a picture later on of Andromeda when she grows up? And a closer shot of her face? Where do the red eyes come from? I've never played with the aliens. I thought they only had black eyes. By the way, how well does the genetics work in Sims2. I was wondering if adult parents went to the mirror and changed their hair color from blond to black, if the next child would be born with blond or black hair. Haven't tried it yet. Thought someone else might have tried it. By the way, I think Tidus is a goodlooking dude. But as VChat has told the world, I'm older than the hills , and what I consider attractive probably reflects that .
If you change the hair color using the mirror their genetics stay the same, much like a dye job in real life. The only way to change genetics is using SimPE and it doesn't seem to be working for me!!! I tried to change a sim's skin color from custom to "in game" so his genes would blend if he ever had a child but he looks exactly the same. I also changed his sister's "pass along" DNA but not her appearance, so I'll have to wait for them to breed to see if it took. They're in college right now. I finally had one of my sims marry an NPC, Brandi LeTourneau, who is quite cute if you change her hairstyle and put some makeup on her. A new outfit didn't hurt either. And she looks better with black hair. Wow, Ivy's a babe. Almost worth putting her through college to get her into the gene pool ... listen to me I sound like Dr. Frankenstein. You had someone marry Goopy? Too funny. I'd like to have that annoying cow, Jenna, move into my sorority house so I can permanently change her outfit from cow to something less annoying. She's actually very cute. (She took a bath in the greek house so I got to see her face. Why she wants to cover it with a cow mask is beyond me.) I hates cows. Not real ones, just sims ones.
I'll keep an update of my Sims as they grow up. I will take a pic of Andromeda as a teenager. Her red eyes came from her mother, Lulu, who got her eyes from her mother Paine (and the eyes I customly made). I ought to take pictures of the elders as well. Kairi and Boba Fett were naturally black hair, and Leia had naturally black hair too. I redyed their hair blonde since the grandfathers (Al and Vidcund) were blondes. I used to think Tidus was ugly as a child because he had the tiny nose like his mother Rikku. But he's turned out well in old age (that and facial hair seems to help too). And yes, Paine was desperate to marry and Goopy was the one she was in love with...lol Lulu kinda looks like Goopy (which, unfortunately, makes her look like a witch), and Wakka looks like Paine.
Nothing wrong with looking like a witch. I'll try to post a picture of Delphine in profile sometime soon if you want to see a really witchy nose ... I think it suits her.
Sim witches make me miss Makin' Magic. Andromeda as a teenager (as taken from the change appearance menu) Paine Lockhart Goopy Lockhart Rikku Lockhart Remington Lockhart Tifa Lockhart (she and her hubby haven't grown old yet) Al Lockhart
Hey, I have two witches, too: Morgana Fey and Luna Moonbeam. They are Uni students. I'll take pictures of them when I get my computer up and running again. (don't ask) You know what annoys me the most about the female elders skins? No matter where you get them whether they are defult or downloaded from "style" sites or what, they all look like they nursed ten babies!!! LMAO!!!! Seeing Paine made me think of that. My Sim Tina Jerry-Spock-Walters transitioned into an elder. I think she has a beautiful face, I found a gorgeous long layered hair-style for her, she doesn't even look that old to me, but ohhh, her body!!!! I guess my day is coming, too. LOL
Weirdly, Lia Aligheri looked pretty good as an elder. And she HATED working out ... of course I dressed her in custom clothing, so maybe the modders cheated a bit on the specs. Who knows?
Some of them don't look too bad, but it has the side effect of making them look like they're attending somebody's funeral.
I stopped by to visit Kennedy Cox and Andrea Hogan III (third one in the neighborhood). They adopted two kids and produced two others. Cleve Cox, the oldest (and adopted,) is away at college, engaged to Meadow Thayer. But the three girls are home. Thought you might be interested in the pictures because Kennedy is white and Andrea is black with unusual green eyes. (It's not a very good picture of her.) I was hoping her daughters would inherit the green eyes but although they inherited the almond shape, they got Dad's brown color . Kennedy is eating dinner with his adopted daughter, Anna. My goodness, but that man looks infinitely better with fuzz on his face . Leila is holding Diana, the toddler. P.S. Note Leila and Diana's skin town, a pretty blend of Kennedy and Andrea.
Neat Lynett! I just married my 1st interracial couple, so I'm happy to see that the game just doesn't take one of the parents' skin-tones and copies it. Now, I'm assuming that both sims were townies, so they would have default skin-tones. I can't remember for sure, but I believe the husband of my couple inherited his mother's custom skin-tone. His wife is a townie: One of the many cheerleaders on Uni. So I wonder if the game will be able to blend a default with a custom? Anyone have any luck with this?
They don't blend. That's why I needed to alter my sims' DNA to a game default. The game takes the custom over the game DNA every time, and if you have two sims with custom DNA in the same area it picks one at random, no blending. I had a tan Sim with custom green eyes who married a Sim with pale custom skin and in-game green eyes. Their child has pale skin and the custom green eyes. I don't plan to use custom skins any more, as most of my sim marriages are between different skin colors and I like the blending ...
Now if Maxis could implement a fuzzy logic and COMBINE skin tones to create an average in between, then bias it more to the mother or fathers side, that would be elite. I don't use custom skin tones for this reason. One thing is I've never played with the aliens before, do these skin tones mix as well? And I haven't played the zombies either so I have no idea if they can breed (Logic tells me no and also eeeuuw...) let alone get mixed skin tones? Any ideas on these two?
You're right, the zombies cannot breed. (flashbacks to "Dawn of The Dead". . . the scene where the zombie momma gives birth to the zombie baby. . . that was disturbing!! ) Aliens: I have bred an Alien twice to people with custom skin colors (I use them quite frequently because we humans come in more than 4 skin tones, and I want my neighborhood to reflect that.) Both times the baby inherited the custom skin tone. The one time I bred an alien with someone with a default skin tone, the result was a gree alien baby.
Well, the changed DNA seems to have worked, but I put it to you experts ... I have a sim with custom skin and eyes. I changed her DNA in SimPE to game defaults instead. She looks the same, but just had a kid who got the father's skin and eyes and presumably hair ... did I actually change her DNA or does the game sometimes do that, choose one or the other? The dad had in-game characteristics, nothing custom.
I'm not sure what's going on, but my pale sim dad had two kids by two different people and one turned out white and the other has his unnaturally pale skin. So I'm not sure what I did, or if what I did changed anything, but I'm leaving it alone. At least his sister had a brown-skinned kid, which makes me think I'm not stuck with preternaturally pale sims forever. Whew. So I'll just leave the genetics alone and see what happens.
