The Sims 2 Nightlife Update #6

    Hi Everyone,

Thought I should give you a little update on everything going on with The Sims 2.

We have just put the finishing touches on The Sims 2 Nightlife. I cant believe you guys are going to playing it in just a few weeks. The team has had a blast making it and playing it. I cant wait to see what you think of it. I know Ive talked about different game features, but I thought I would share a new neighborhood feature I really like. Attached are two shots of the new Downtown neighborhood (you can build your own if you prefer of course). It is the same camera angle and the same scene, the only difference is that I clicked the Day/Night button on the Neighborhood UI, it works in regular neighborhoods as well, so it can be nighttime in any neighborhood.

The Sims 2 Nightlife is not the only thing that we have been working on at Maxis and the other teams here have been heads down on The Sims 2 for Sony Playstation 2, Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo Gamecube, Gameboy Advanced, Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, and even Mobile Phones. A little over a week ago we had some members of the community here at Maxis to check out all the new versions of the The Sims 2 and give us some feedback. I thought be cool to point you guys at what they had to say on their sites.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to introduce Scott Amos and Virginia McArthur to you guys. Scot is in charge of the Playstation, Xbox, and Gamecube versions, and Virginia is on everything handheld. They both wanted the opportunity to drop you guys a note about what they are working on and give you a little insight into their teams and games.

    Talk to you soon,
    Tim

Wow!!! You got to meet Michael the Chiorboy? :) It's a matter of time before you walk into Maxis office to find JMP telling them how to fix things. :D

That's a wild effect. I wonder if they are going to add any other new things to the neighborhood screen (like being able to have different grass/sand things that you can lay down yourself, or new trees, bushes and, dare I hope it, waterfalls)?

You can get waterfalls on MTS2, Kat. :D

I'll still miss the gigantic fishtanks, the street-themed walls and lights, the World Map wall hanging, the candy/beach/clothes/gift stores, the picnics, and the vending machines. I think Hot Date had a great personality to it which I will miss.

I wonder how it would be if you ordered from Australia, not sure of the exchange rate, but still I think with delivery it would be less than $50NZ. Something to look at anyway.

Unfortunately, those at MTS2 (there are two sets of them, from what I've found) overwrite some of the files from the game as they are uncovering the incomplete waterfalls that Maxis had planned to put in, not newly created objects. I'm hoping that Maxis is able to fix them so that we can have them without changing or giving up other things in that view.

  Oh, no!!! I just did a clean reinstall, and the waterfalls I downloaded stayed in there for some reason. I wonder how this will mess with NL when I upload it. I had a hack uploaded when I got UNI that stopped my students from going to school or studying together or any other college activity.

I have no idea why that would happen to a clean install. Did you completely remove the TS2 folder before you uninstalled and reinstalled?

When you have uninstalled, nothing should be left (except what you moved out of the folder to be reintroduced later.) Then it should be clean until you put your old info back in.

We recommend that at each stage you play a little to make sure it all works before you start reintroducing your old neighborhoods and downloads.

I figured it out. It was with the neighborhood. I moved the entire neighborhood folder out and replaced it after the reinstall.
