Yes they're both vampires. I may have posted Duke's picture before but not this particular one on this forum because it doesn't allow you to upload the same picture twice. He's on my pharaohfarrow webpage (see sig) because I started a movie starring him. Haven't finished the movie . Man, it was so MUCH work but I do plan to get back to it.
Oh yeah, that's where I saw him--on your website! I didn't quite get the gist of the movie..but it was cool anyway!
From the files of Duke Sidewalker --- I showed a picture of this woman around town and everyone I talked to has seen her, but not recently, not in the past couple of weeks. Whether it's her manner or her looks or the fact that she is a regular and frequent customer to the downtown clubs and bars, everyone who sees her remembers her. Therefore, her absence is noticed. But there is no body. The police are still looking for it, interviewing everyone about Griffin's whereabouts in the past couple of weeks. So I'm not bothering about what Griffin was up to. The police got that covered pretty thoroughly. They figure that Griffin's moves will lead them to a body. I'm going to follow the missing woman instead. Today, I met a pale young lad who told me I might want to talk to a lady at the Hideaway down the road. He called her Lake. Said it was a nickname because her real name is too difficult to remember. I'll go back there tonight.
From the files of Duke Sidewalker -- Interesting place, this Hideaway. My kind of place. I played a little pool with a guy name Joe who only shrugged at the mention of Candida Menendez. Said he'd heard about her. Said he'd heard about Griffin being arrested for her murder. Knew Griffin a little because his wife, Sophie, is a friend of one of Griffin's sisters. Griffin seemed like an OK guy, if aloof. Couldn't see him killing anyone -- too messy. Joe, however, was able to point out Lake over at the card tables. So I introduced myself. I'm straightforward about what I do although I don't disclose who hires me. Smart people can usually figure that out on their own. Lake's smart. Yes, she'd had occasion to talk to Candida whenever they ran into each other on the bar and club circuit. Didn't like her much but she was interesting to talk to. Candida's mother was another story entirely, a real unpleasant woman. They were usually together, both of them looking over the men in the crowd as if grocery shopping for vegetables. Creepy. Had Lake seen them recently, within the past couple of weeks? She'd last seen Candida two weeks earlier with a man that made Lake's flesh crawl. He dressed too formally for this town and his skin was the color of putty as if he'd been ill. She'd heard that this guy was living in the big gloomy house on the other side of town. Last time she drove by, a few days ago at night, there were lights on. Thought she saw a woman in the window that looked like Candida's mother. Did Lake say anything to the police? What for? No reason, I told her then bought her dinner at the bar and had a drink. The trial is scheduled to start tomorrow. I'd better check that house out tonight.
Sheila Mae gets a telephone call -- Emmy? You sound out of breath. Sheila, something's wrong! I can't get hold of the private detective we hired! He doesn't answer his phone. I've been over to his office and he's not there. I've even gone to his apartment. The landlord insists he hasn't seen him since yesterday morning. The trial is starting right now! Do the police know anything about it? They shrug it off. The police detective was nasty and told me I had wasted my money on that loser, a gumshoe from Simtown. Go look for him there, he said. He's probably back in Simtown. Emmy, is it possible? Could the police be right about that? I refuse to believe it. He was our last chance. When I spoke with him on the phone yesterday he said he was following a lead at the Hideaway. I think he meant the Hideout. That's Rodney's place. Have you been there? Once or twice. It's just a bar. Go with me, Sheila. I want to see where Duke went from there. All right, Emmy. I'll pick you up in a few minutes.
The bartender at Rodney's knows nothing about Duke but he has an envelope that someone left for any member of Griffin Sparrow's family who shows up asking questions. He hands it to Emmy who tears it open. There are pictures. The first set, she believes, must have been taken by Duke ...
The second set were not taken by Duke, but by some monster who had followed him. They showed Duke in the house, approaching a strange door, descending a long staircase, opening something he should never have touched ... Emmy felt Sheila Mae's hand on her shoulder. She let the pictures slide through her fingers to the floor.
Oooh, I've got goosebumps. Poor Duke! But now they've got photos showing Candida's not dead, right? Watch out, Sheila Mae!
In that one picture where she's coming up out of the coffin it shows her face. Her hand is kind of covering it a little but maybe there's enough to id her. Ruthie
The denouement is a little tricky to lay out. I'm working on it . Part of my problem is 'free will.' I never turn it off and my sims sometimes do as they please inspite of my direction. Kind of forces me to follow where they lead. Up until Griffin was charged with murder all I really ever did was add dialogue and thoughts to what they were doing already. Then I thought, hmmm, vampires! Missing villagers! And soap operas always have murder trials, don't they? So I piled on complications. "Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive." (Have I got that quotation right?) Anyway, more installments tomorrow! Since I'm off from work. Lunchtime over. Back to work!
Hi, Dad I hope you get this before the trial starts because I want you to know I support you all the way and don't believe any of the stuff they're saying on TV and in the papers. I'm sorry you missed my birthday party but here's a picture of me in front of Grandma's picture. Mom says I look like her but I think I look like you. I think you should let your hair grow out blond again even if Mom says she likes your hair black. Here's a picture of me and Starla. She delivers the papers every morning and we talk alot. She wants to go to college, too, but she wants to go to Sim State U. I know you and Mom want me to go to Le Tour but I'm thinking I'd like to try Sim State instead. Mom didn't want me to tell you but she's going to have another baby. She said you've got too much to think about now with the trial and don't need one more worry on your back. But I think it's important for you to know about it. Mom really does still love you. I know this because of the way she looks at your picture on the wall. I know what you did with Candida was bad and it will be hard for Mom to forgive you but neither one of us believes that you'd kill anyone. Aunt Dalila agrees with me. She's expecting a baby, too. I took a picture of Mom and Dalila for you. They're both happy about the babies. So am I. I hope I get a baby brother. We were all staying with Aunt Emmy down the street for awhile, to escape the stupid reporters but Emmy and Dalila didn't seem to be getting along too well, and Mom missed our house and all our stuff so we came back and Dalila came with us. The reporters still take dumb pictures every time we walk out the door but the police have told them to stay on the other side of the street so we just ignore them. They'll get tired of it eventually, I guess. Be strong, Dad. Love, Matthew
Extra, Extra, pictures cut out of the newspaper -- Crowds gather -- Judge Volker presides -- Garth prosecutes --
How did you get so many people in the same picture together? Did you have to cheat? I'm really enjoying this story. Felicia and Dalilah are lovely expectant mommies. Love the hair. Pronup sims again?
