Houses are different, they need to go into the UserData folder that goes with the Neighborhood number you want your houses in. For instance, if you want a house for Lot number 1 to be in your FIRST neighborhood, put the file into Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\UserData You can find all these folders and stuff by using Windows Explorer. Find that in your Start menu, go to Start, then All Programs, then Accessories, and it's the one with a little Folder icon. I LOVE this program as it lets me see where all my files ARE! If you want to put a house in your second or third neighborhood etc. just put it in the UserData2 or UserData3 folder, and so on. Hope this helps! And good luck!
