I should clarify. I have 130 player sims, not including NPC's. I'm sure it's much higher, since I used all three unis, downtown and Bluewater village.

My next town will have all custom "attachment" hoods and only one uni.

    Learned my lesson.

Edited to say: Looks like I've got 602 sims. But at the rate I'm going it's going to take 8 more generations or so to reach 800.

You can delete a university if you move all your sims out? I didn't realize that.

Babyace, There's no definitive limit to the number of generations. Though you seem to be asking about the number of generations a living sims can have. Again no real limit. Even without cheats it is possible to keep a sim alive indefinitely with the elixir of life.

SBW. I suggest that for optimum performance (when creating a new neighborhood) the best solution is to create one university campus only. Each campus spawns a full set of profs and dormies are spawned for every dorm you create and play (I think). I wouldn't even bother creating a shopping district unless the OFB NPC's (like the reporter) are essential to your play style or playing needs ...

Frankly delete all characters scares me. For example I found this tutorial the other day and ... well ... life is too short IMHO. The no townie regeneration hack is more than enough ... in fact it is essential as it stops your hood from filling up with varying ages of Ricky Cormiers ... another reason why not to marry NPC's ... very alarming to have a grey haired Lucy Danby watch a spry red-headed one cleaning out the fish tank

I use a custom university based on the Veronaville terrain. I have filled it with buildings I designed myself so there's a small trailer park for sims who like to slum it, another residential area with a some cheap beach chalet style 3 bedroom homes suitable for groups of 3 or 4 sims plus a couple of small dorms and some eye candy buildings and a couple of community lots ... including the infamous Slim's Throat Emporium (that's another H2G2 reference BTW ... Slim's was the home of the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster )

At 602 your 'hood is not exploding. It would take a lot more to make it really wobbly ... just try to avoid creating any more subhoods.

I don't know that deleting a university removes characters from the neighbordood characters folder. It doesn't sound likely .... :(

Babyface: There is no limit to the # of generations you can have, like Mirelly said. I think that the game will only recognize 4 generations before it starts to loose track of direct decendents. I've read of sims swooning and wanting to date their hot great-great-great-grandma, being kept young using anti-aging cheats. (Ahh, the wonders of Simming!!) I'm hoping to test it now that I'm starting my 5th generation.

SBW: I did that once. Deleted Unis, moved students to one central Uni. Very Bad. FBVFS sort of thing.

So far my sims can only have family interactions with their great-greats, even if they don't show up as family. Which is fine with me. How ishy would that be.

Thanks for the tip, Kristal. I won't be doing that, then.

My next neighborhood will have only one uni, though.

I, at one point, moved a few families into the house bin and transported them into a new neighborhood I created and deleted the temporary neighborhood they had been in and no doubles were created. Don't know if that will help you, as you're not looking to delete the whole neighborhood. I also know that if you delete family members or friends in the same neighborhood then they will still call until the relationship winds down so that they are no longer friends.
