I try to take walks when I can, but it seems like I get enough exercise trying to get from point A to point B in a crowded high school and dance DDR for 15-30 minutes a day. I also try to cut down on the portion sizes and try not to snack unless I'm absolutely dying from hunger. I probably need to do more...
I lost ten pounds without really knowing how I did it ... other than watching portions. So it can be done, even if you're "old" like me. My problem is, it's so hard to be good. Being bad just comes naturally.
hooray! finally lost 6 pounds. and fall asleep almost the minute my head hits the pillow. trying to get psyched to go today... but it's cold and icy and the house is so warm and sims are here and....
me, too, as far as exercising. I'm still being good about eating less and eating the right stuff, though it doesn't feel like it's doing me any good. I know it must be, though.
I actually went to costco today after exercising and didn't buy any junk food. well one bag of tortilla chips but we eat that with cottage cheese and salsa.
I love CostCo! The birthday cake is fabulous - but for once I don't like the choclate one. It starts to taste bad towards the bottom. :(
ran across something that suggests that a protein serving size is basically the size of your palm... any one agree with this or was the writer just blowing smoke? Health@RealAge.com says that you should only have one red meat meal a week and 5 or more fish ones. or just use commonsense and eat what appeals. what do you think?
Yes, the correct serving of protein is the size of your palm. At least according to my girlfriend. Myself? I eat what I want, when I want. Apparently I have my fathers gene, which is eat anything, stay thin. My girlfriend says it will catch up with me one day.
Is it OK if I hate you now? I eat like a saint, most of the time, and still have a figure no one would kill for. I have to exercise like a fiend if I want to lose weight, and I hate exercising for its own sake. Sigh.
Well, seeing as I'm only 12, I'm not all that fat (though obesity is creeping into the younger generations as time passes, as we all know) but I could eat more healthy stuff. I mean, it's not like you keep fit just so you look good, after all.
Right. That's just a bonus. Not sure why, but I've definitely lost weight. I think it's because meals have gotten so boring at our house. None of us eats at the same time, though I try to encourage my daughter to eat when I do so I only have to be in the kitchen once or twice. I'd rather play sims than eat (hey! a health benefit to the sims!), or work on my writing (sims and otherwise) or play a game with my kid, or ... you get the idea. Eating just seems like a chore now so I make something easy, eat a few bites and go back to what I was doing. Anyway, must be working because my jeans are loose. That hasn't happened in a while, LOL.
Good job! It feels good doesn't it. I put on a shirt I haven't worn in over a year because the sleeves were awkward and it was comfortable. Looking forward to a smaller pant size.
I just reread one of your posts, Babe, and now I'm depressed that there are CostCo's in England. The world is turning into one big generic shopping mall. Sigh.
